Theorico Framework: Years Results 2014 2015 2016 2017 2018

The José Ortega y Gasset school in Colombia has shown satisfactory English results from 2014 to 2018, with scores ranging from 10.08 to 65.63. However, further in-depth research on student competencies has not been conducted due to lack of support. To achieve a B1 English level, students must demonstrate four key competencies: understanding main points of clear written or spoken texts in familiar topics, dealing with daily situations during travel, producing simple written texts on familiar topics, and describing experiences and opinions. While the school has exercised these linguistic competencies, they have not evaluated them in depth.

Theorico framework

In the school José Ortega y Gasset since 2014 have shown satisfactory results in
the area of English, which, if evaluated with other schools, it is said, the level of
English is quite high, as a result of not obtaining sufficient knowledge to present
the evidence.

The results obtained during the year 2014 up to 2018 are shown below:

Years Results

2014 10.08

2015 9,61

2016 66,5

2017 65,34

2018 65,63

The research has not been carried out in depth, it is something that has ceased to
be investigated over the years, as a consequence of not obtaining sufficient
support to practice subjects related to the test icfes in the area of English, regular
performance is observed when presenting this test.

 In this way it will be observed that competencies require the B1 level, which
students persevere to reach, level B1 corresponds to independent users
with the language that has the fluency to communicate effortlessly with
native speakers.
 What language skills characterize a person who certifies to have a B1 level
of English?

The Common European Framework of Reference for Languages defines the

following competencies for obtaining this level:

1) It is able to understand the main points of clear texts and in the standard
language if they deal with issues that are known to it, whether in work, study
or leisure situations.
2) Knows how to deal with most situations that may arise during a trip in
areas where the language is used.
3) It is able to produce simple and coherent texts on subjects that are
familiar to it or in which it has a personal interest.
4) Can describe experiences, events, wishes and aspirations, as well as
briefly justify their opinions or explain

This will show that students can acquire these 4 competencies required by the
Common European Framework of Reference to provide them with their B1 level,
with this the Ministry of National Education will evaluate each of these
competences in the same way, in the institution José Ortega y Gasset the linguistic
competences are not in depth, but they have been exercised.
