ETABS 2015 (Extended 3D Analysis of Building Systems) : Tutorial 1

This document provides a tutorial for using ETABS 2015 software to analyze and design a reinforced concrete beam. It outlines 12 steps for building a model of the beam, assigning materials and loads, analyzing the beam, viewing results, designing the beam, detailing rebar, and generating a report. The tutorial instructs the user how to draw the beam geometry, apply loads, obtain deflected shapes, support reactions, and force diagrams, and design the beam for bending and shear.

ETABS 2015
(Extended 3D Analysis of Building Systems)

Tutorial 1:

A rectangular reinforced concrete beam has the span shown in the figure below
with b=350mm and h=600mm. Materials strength are fc'=25 MPa and
fy=350MPa.
1-Draw the beam deflected shape with deflection values
2-Find the support reactions
3-Draw the SFD and BMD
4-Design the beam for maximum applied moment
5-Design the beam for maximum applied shear

1-Draw the grid

2-Define materials:

3- Define beam section
