Peramin® AXL 80, A New Setting Accelerator Upon Lithium Sulphate Technology For Calcium Aluminates Based Materials
Peramin® AXL 80, A New Setting Accelerator Upon Lithium Sulphate Technology For Calcium Aluminates Based Materials
Severine Favier
Abstract:
Accelerators such as lithium carbonate are often used in combination with Calcium Aluminate Cement
(CAC) technology in Building Chemistry applications. These additives are especially useful in self-
levelling compounds or technical mortars in order to achieve specific properties, such as shorten the
setting time or increase the hardening slope at early ages.
Due to several shortages on lithium carbonate in the recent years linked to the growth of Lithium
battery industry, Peramin AB - the additives division of Kerneos - has decided to find a way to secure
the supply of this key component to dry mix producers.
®
Peramin AXL 80 has been launched in September 2012 and is now available worldwide through
Kerneos global network. This new product is based on a specific source of lithium sulphate which is a
high quality by-product of the battery industry.
This new development illustrates the strong synergy between Peramin and Kerneos: providing the
best quality of products and services to our customers in respect of our sustainable policy.
®
The presentation aims to show the performance obtained with Peramin AXL 80 as a setting
accelerator compared to Lithium Carbonate used in a CAC rich Self Levelling Underlayment recipe.
®
Thanks to its higher solubility, Peramin AXL 80 brings a faster development of mechanical properties
at early age and enables to achieve a defect-free surface aspect.
®
Attend this presentation to understand why Peramin AXL 80 is an excellent alternative to
conventional accelerating systems in CAC rich mix-designs.
