Weekly Journal

Regular evaluation updates are required with every unit. Please remember to
take photos and get behind the scenes footage as you film. You might find it
easier if you note down a record of what you did each day in a diary form.

Please use the following guidance to help you with each week.

Week 2 This week you worked on your factual programme

What research have you This week I have looked into my documentary and
completed this week and what seen a number of different ways they could be laid
have you learned? out. From this it enabled me to realise what style I
wanted and how I was going to prepare for it. I then
looked into the person I wanted to interview and
decided on Dan Cammish, he is a racing driver and
therefore has a lot of experience in the social media
world and due to his status young people would be
more willing to listen to him. I did some research
which made me collect some facts and background
knowledge about him which I then could include in
my interview. Here I learnt about how many
championships he had won and all the companies he
has been a part of. After I had done some secondary
research on Cammish I then went on to do a focus
group which allowed me to pick up information on
the subject by my target audience. It appeared that
my focus group didn’t think that social media
affected their health. This I found very interesting and
will be using in my documentary.
How have you divided your As I am taking a slightly different approach from the
planning amongst your group? rest of my class members I am doing the project by
myself. Therefore the work isn’t divided.
What did you learn from your I have found that planning has helped a huge
planning? How has it helped you amount and I now feel that I know a lot about the
to progress your idea? topic my documentary is based on. I now have
knowledge of different views from different people
which I can put across throughout making sure my
documentary is not biased. From my planning I have
learnt just how important social media is in a young
persons life and how used to it they are. This is perhaps
why they don’t see the danger in it! From my planning
I have developed questions which I think can be
easily expanded and made into a conversation,
which allows me to go into more depth.
Are you on track for this week? If I am a little bit behind due to doing the project by
not, how far behind are you? myself so will probably have to put in some extra
hours.
What work do you need to I need to complete my location recces, crew list and
complete outside of lessons to props list.
