Theme: “Science for the People: Enabling Technologies for Sustainable Development”

FEATURE WRITING CONTEST


MECHANICS AND CRITERIA FOR JUDGING

1. The Feature Writing Contest for SJCDC Math & Science Academic Festival 2019 is
open to Grade 11 and 12 students. Only five (5) students per section will be given a
chance to participate the contest.

2. The contest proper shall be on September 25, 2019, 10:00 AM- 12:00 NN for Grade 11
and 2:00 PM - 4:00 PM for Grade 12 at the College Library. The topic must be related to
the theme.

3. The entry must be in English; minimum number of words is 800. No maximum number
of words is required. Below 800 words is subject to disqualification.

4. The maximum time to write the piece is two (2) hours and will be judged on the
following criteria:

Relevance to the topic 30%


Grammar and correct use of words 20%
Organization of ideas (Originality) 20%
Style, Neatness and Readability of piece 20%
Unity of the Group 10%
Total 100%

5. The paper will be provided before the contest starts. Additional sheets of paper can
be requested from the Key Person.

6. The contestants will be given a Fifteen (15) minute brainstorming and after that they
are required to keep silent while the contest is on-going.

7. The winners of the contest in every level will receive a Certificate of Recognition with
the following categories:
Champion
First Runner Up
Second Runner Up
Third Runner Up
