of degree at most 3, and W = {a + bx + cx2 + dx3 | a + d = 1}

4. Show that B = {x2 + x, x + 1, x − 1} forms a basis for P2 = {a + bx + cx2 | a, b, c, ∈ R}

5. Let P3 = {a + bx + cx2 + dx3 | a, b, c, d ∈ R}, the vector space of all polynomials with real coefficients of
degree at most 3. Consider the subspaceW = h1 + x2 , 1 + x3 , 2x + 2x2 + x3 , 2 + 4x + 9x2 − x3 i. Determine
a basis for W . What is the dimension of W ?
