1. Introduction
Thank you very much for downloading the firmware update application for the
TAC-2/TAC-2R/TAC-8.
This document explains how to update the firmware for the TAC-2/TAC-2R/TAC-8.
Precautions
2) Confirm that the TAC-2/TAC-2R/TAC-8 driver has already been installed on the
Mac.
3) Before starting this application, shut down all other applications that are running.
In addition, if any MIDI or audio devices are connected by Thunderbolt cable to
the computer you are using, disconnect them all.

2. Updating the firmware
2.1. Connect the TAC-2/TAC-2R/TAC-8 and the Mac using a Thunderbolt cable. Then, turn
the TAC-2/TAC-2R/TAC-8 power on.
2.3. With a TAC-2R/TAC-8, click the “Input Device” and “Output Device” fields to open lists
of MIDI devices and select “ZOOM TAC-X Reserved Port” for both.
With a TAC-2, select “ZOOM TAC-2 ZOOM TAC-2”.
If nothing is shown in the fields, click [Rescan Device] button.

2.4. Click the [Version Check] button to check the firmware version.
2.5. Click the [Execute] button to start the firmware update. The progress of the firmware
update appears as a bar like this.
Do not disconnect the Thunderbolt cable while the firmware is being updated.
In the unlikely event that a firmware update should fail, conduct the following
procedure, and then follow the procedures from step 2.2 to update the firmware again.
TAC-2:
With the TAC-2 power off, while pressing the control knob, connect the Thunderbolt
port to the Mac using a Thunderbolt cable.
TAC-2R:
With the TAC-2R power off, while pressing both INPUT 1 and INPUT 2 [Hi-Z] switches,
connect the Thunderbolt port to the Mac using a Thunderbolt cable.
TAC-8:
With the TAC-8 power off, while pressing both the INPUT 2 [Hi-Z] and the INPUT 1–4
phantom switch, turn the POWER switch ON.
Click the [Exit] button to close the firmware update application. Then, turn the
TAC-2/TAC-2R/TAC-8 power off.

This completes the firmware update.
