(BT L3) (CO1) : Objective Nos.:1 Outcome Nos.:1

This assignment sheet provides details for a Power Systems II course assignment. It includes 4 calculation problems related to determining inductance and capacitance values for various 3-phase transmission line configurations. Students are asked to calculate the inductance per km and average inductance per phase for a single circuit line, as well as the inductance per meter and capacitance per phase for double circuit lines based on given conductor arrangements and specifications. The assignment is due on July 15, 2019 and relates to the course objectives and outcomes for inductance and capacitance calculations.

ASSIGNMENT SHEET – I

Academic Year 2019-20

Course: Power Systems II Course Code: R1631021
Year: III Semester: I Section:B
Name of the Faculty: B Raghavendra Designation: Asst. Prof.
Name of the Program: B.Tech. in EEE

This assignment corresponds to Unit No. I Date of Submission:-15/07/2019

1. The three conductors of a 3-phase transmission line are arranged in a horizontal plane
and are 5 meters apart. The diameter of each conductor is 30mm.Determine the
inductance per km of each conductor (line to neutral). Assume balanced load and R,
Y, B phase sequence. Determine also the average inductance per phase for regularly
transposed line. [BT L3][ CO1]
2. Calculate the inductance per phase per meter for a three-phase double-circuit line
whose phase conductors have a radius of 5·3 cm with the horizontal conductor
arrangement as shown in Fig. [BT L3][ CO1]

3. Calculate the capacitance per phase of a three phase, three wire system by
considering earth effect, when the conductors are arranged in a horizontal plane with
spacing D12=D23=3.5m, and D31=7m. The conductors are transposed and each has a
diameter of 2.0 cm. Assume the transmission line is 4m above the ground level.
[BT L3][CO1]
4. Calculate the capacitance per phase of a three-phase double circuit line as shown in
below Figure. The diameter of the conductor is 2.2 cm. Assume that the line is
completely transposed [BT L3][CO1]
