Ralph Tyler model of curriculum development:

Introduction:
Ralph Winfred Tyler was born on 22 April 1902 In Chicago who was an American educator. in
1949 he introduced a curriculum model in his book principle of curriculum for his students to
give idea about principles of making curriculum model.

Model: a set of believes about work underlying assumptions.

Definition of curriculum:
A curriculum refers to a defined and prescribed course of studies, which students must fulfil in
order to pass a certain level of education.

Definition of development: development is a process that creates progress and


positive changes in anything.

Curriculum Development:

Curriculum development is defined as planned, a purposeful, progressive, and systematic process


to create positive improvements in the educational system. Every time there are developments
happening around the world, the school curricula are affected. There is a need to update them to
address the society’s needs.

TYLER MODLE OF CURRUCULUM:

 The Tyler model is also known as the” objective model”


 One of the earliest curriculum evaluation models, which was proposed by Ralph Tyler
(1950) in his monograph Basic Principles of Curriculum and Instruction.
 The Tyler model is a curriculum evaluation model pays close attention to how well the
goals and objectives of the curriculum are supported by the experiences and activities
