Ketorolac Drug Study

Ketorolac Tromethamine (brand name Toradol) is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) used for short-term management of pain up to 5 days. It works by inhibiting prostaglandins and leukotriene synthesis. It can cause central nervous system side effects like headache, dizziness, and fatigue, as well as gastrointestinal, renal, hepatic, and auditory adverse effects. Nursing responsibilities include monitoring patients for potential cardiovascular, gastrointestinal, and renal toxicities and keeping emergency equipment available when administering the initial dose due to risk of hypersensitivity reactions.
