Crafting the Curriculum

I. OBJECTIVES

Within the discussion the students are expected to:

A. Identify some familiar curriculum designs and approaches to their designs.


B. Analyze the approaches in the light of how these are applied in the school
setting.

II. SUBJECT MATTER

Topic: The Teacher as a Curriculum Designer


Lesson: Approaches to Curriculum Designing
Reference: Textbook on Curriculum Development
Materials: LCD Projector, Laptop, PowerPoint, and Lesson Plan
Handouts

III. PROCEDURE
A. Review
Ask the class about the previous lesson.
What they learned in the previous lesson.
Ask the students if they really understand the past lesson.

B. Motivation
a. Introduce the game by giving a sample.

C. Activities
a. Divide the class into groups.
b. Each group will follow the instruction given in the activity.
c. The facilitators will check the work of each group.

D. Lesson Proper
a. Proceed to the next lesson which is the Approaches to Curriculum
Design
b. Ask the learners about their ideas in Curriculum Design Models
c. Introduce the Types of Curriculum Design Models
d. Introduce the Approaches to Curriculum Design
e. Discuss types and approaches of Curriculum Design

E. Application
The facilitators will let the students read the instructions on the
screen and let them answer the given matrix.

F. Assessment
1. The students will answer the given statements by explaining what
principle of Oliva is reflected in the Lesson Plan.
2. The students will answer 10 questions by Yes or No.

G. Assignment

Make your own lesson plan by employing the axioms of Peter Oliva.
