E-Guidance and Counselling

Definition:
Counselling or guidance that is delivered using ICT and which may or may
not directly involve a guidance counselor. Frequently used to describe the
provision of information or the use of self assessment tools and exercises via
the internet.

Characteristics of guidance:
It is a continuous process.
Both generalized and specialized service.
Enables the individuals to take decisions to grow independently.
Aims of guidance is to develop the capacity for self direction, self
guidance and self improvement.
Choice the problem points are the distinctive concerns of guidance.
Charateristics of Counselling :
A helping relationship involving someone seeking help, willing to give
help, capable to help etc.
It is only one aspect of guidance.
A purposeful learning experience for the counselee.
Three levels of counseling –
Informal counselling.
Non- Specialist counseling.
Professional counseling.
Conclusion:
Counselling help students in career choice to vying to their appropriate
area that they are good at instead of following their peers in choosing a wrong
career part. The education of a child needs constant mentoring hence guidance
is inimical to their growth and development in complex society that we are
today. So e-guidance and couselling is very much helpful for each and every
person in different aspect.
