A & B: The Speech Contest 2018!

B: And to introduce another equally inspiring individual who will give us the opening remarks
for today, let us call on ____________.

(Introduction of the Opening Remarks Speaker and Opening Remarks

– Mr. Poommarin Phonsawa )

A: Thank you Mr. Poommarin, for that warm welcome to us all. The Speech Contest is an
important event in schools across the nation because it serves as an avenue to
developing lifelong skills.

B: That’s right. This year’s speech contest aims to provide the students with the
opportunity to exhibit their communication skills and discover their potentials on public
speaking.

A: The competition consists of two parts, the Prepared Speech this morning and the
Extemporaneous Speech this afternoon. At this time, our equally competitive students
who represent each class from Mattayom 4 to 5 will compete in the Extemporaneous
Speech.

B: We will know more about that from the next speaker. Let us call on ____________to
inform us about the mechanics of the contest.

(Mechanics of the Contest)

A: Thank you____________. That was enlightening.
B: I’m sure everyone is excited!

A: You can say that again. But first we have to be familiar with this set of individuals in whose
hands lay the difficult task of deciding who the winners will be.

B: Of course we all know you are talking about the honorable panel of judges. Let’s call on
___________from Mattayom _____ to introduce them.

(Introduction of the Panel of Judges)

A: Thank you,________. Now that we are familiar with our distinguished judges, let us
call on one of our peers to tell us how the judges will judge our contestants. Please
welcome _________from ___________ to explain the criteria for judging.

(Criteria for Judging)

B: Thank you___________. That was well – explained.

A: I agree with you. Let’s not prolong the agony. Now, we have come to the most
important part of our program, the contest proper.

B: Let us start with a batch of speech enthusiasts: the Mattayom 4 students. Let us give
them a round of applause.

the Mattayom 5 students. Let us welcome them.

B: That’s amazing! And that concludes our contest proper. The judges are now tallying the
scores of each contestant. Every speaker, I should say, delivered a good job. Don’t you
think so, ______?

A: I definitely think so too. They were all great. Being able to stand in front of a crowd to
deliver a speech in English is undeniably a huge achievement.

B: I agree with you _____. We all know how talented Saint Francis students are. And now,
while waiting for the results, why don’t you sit back and enjoy listening to a lovely song to
be rendered by _______________from _____________.

(Intermission Number)

A: Thank you,____________. That was amazing! I am absolutely overwhelmed

with the great array of talents that I have seen today.
B: I would say the same. It makes me proud to be a student in this school.

May we call on________, the chairperson of the Board of Judges to announce the
winners of this year’s prepared speech contest?

(Awarding of Certificates and Prizes to the Winners)

B: Congratulations to all the winners!

A: Contestants, you are all winners in your own right. And so, I believe that each of you
should be rewarded for your great efforts.

B: We will now award the certificates of participation to all of you who joined in this year’s
speech contest. Please join the winners in front.

A: May we call on our judges, __________and __________to award the certificates of

participation to the participants.
