Dear Ashley Markley,

The purpose of this letter is to ask for funding related to my small business venture. I am
planning to open a Chinese restaurant.

My name is Frank Xu. The restaurant I am planning to open is called “Chinese Garden
Restaurant”(CGR). I know that there are many Chinese restaurants in the U.S.A., but I always
think that these restaurants have something missing. It is “soul”.

What I mean is that it seems like they just put "Chinese" in the name of their restaurants, but the
food is not very authentic. I feel that the taste is completely wrong. It does not taste like the
food in the restaurants of my hometown. Every dish is very sweet. Sometimes I feel like I am
eating sugary Chinese cuisine. So, I want to open a very unique Chinese restaurant. These are
the things that will make my restaurant different and unique: 1. Interior design and decoration
- I want customers to have a comfortable environment to eat. 2. Chefs - I will introduce several
senior chefs from China to make delicious and authentic Chinese food. 3. Customer Service
and Management - We will train our staff members to alway provide excellent customer service,
and we will utilize a staff management system to help our business be organized and efficient,
with a focus on communication and teamwork. The perfect restaurant design, delicious food,
and an impeccable management system and customer service are the conditions that a good
restaurant must have, and I believe these will set my restaurant apart.

I am seeking $200,000 in funding to start my restaurant. Would you be able to help provide a
loan to help me attain my dream of opening my own Chinese restaurant?
