Practical Exercises 3 System Analysis

This document provides a practical exercise on solving systems of linear equations. It contains 6 problems to solve systems of linear equations using elimination, substitution, equivalent equations, Cramer's rule, and graphical methods. The problems cover determining consistency of systems, solving 2-variable systems, and submitting computer-generated output on short bond paper by October 19, 2019.

SECTION CODE: H 057

COURSE CODE/TITLE: MFC 303 System Analysis and Management
Day/Time/Room: SAT 0530-0830 CET 113

Topics: System of Linear Equations

PROBLEM SOLVING:
1. Determine whether the following pairs of equations are consistent, dependent, or inconsistent.
a. 7x + 2y = 4 and 5x – 3y = 7
b. 2x + 2y = 6 and x + y = 3
c. 3x + 12y = 72 and x + 4y = 24

2. Solve the system of linear equations by elimination method

a. 2x + y = 10 and x – y = 2
b. –x + y = 1 and 2x –y = 1
c. 3x + 5y = 30 and x – 5y = 20

3. Solve the system of linear equations by substitution method

a. 2x + y = 18 and x – y = 9
b. X + y = 7 and x – y = 3
c. X + 2y = -2 and x = 4

4. Solve the system of linear equations by equivalent equations

a. 2x + 3 y = 1 and –x + y = -3
b. X + y = 8 and x – y = 4
c. 2x – y = 5 and 5x + 2y = 8

5. Solve the system of linear equations by Cramer’s rule.

a. 2x + 3y = 6 and 2x – 2y = 1
b. 3x + 2y = 4 and 5x – 2y = 8
c. 3x – 4y = 4 and ½ x – 3y = -½

6. Solve the system of linear equations by graphical methods.

a. 2x + y = 0 and 3x + y = 1
b. 3x + 2y = 18 and 3x + 8y = -12
c. X + y = 8 and x – y = 4
