NARRATIVE REPORT ON SOLID WASTE


MANAGEMENT

The Solid waste management program of Meyto Elementary School started four years ago. Its
main aim is to monitor waste management and maintain the cleanliness of the school. It’s first year
and second year implementation is not that successful, but now, its importance become well known to
all not only for the faculty but also to students as well.
The implementation of waste segregation become a part of the system and students
participation is obviously rampant comparable to the first implementation of it. Three trash cans
become visible in every classroom as support to the program. Each bin labeled as biodegradable, non-
biodegradable, and plastic. Every end of class session in the morning and in the afternoon SPG elected
officers visits every classroom to collect the paper waste and put them in a container.

The Program Waste Management are as follows:


1. Checking of waste management classroom trash cans thru X and / patterns. Twice a day each
classroom will be check if they follow the right segregation of waste. If they don’t they will
be marked X and if they do it in the right way they will receive /. Aside from trashcans
classroom surroundings will be checked.
2. Every end of class session in the morning and the afternoon SPG elected officers visits every
classroom to collect the paper waste and put them in a container.
3. As agent of environment and cleanliness, the YES-O officers together with the members help
the janitor of our school to clean the school yards every day.
4. 4. The SPG started the project Shoot-that-Pet- Bottle wherein plastic mineral bottles and
soda bottles can be place in an improvised basketball shooting ring.
5. The SPG officers sold the bottles and papers to junkshops for additional funds to be used in
their upcoming projects.
