Hi! I am Mamisoa. Travelling, beyond simple holidays, is the promise of moments of pure escape made of
discovery, heartwarming meetings, and unforgettable memories.
Madagascar, the Red Island, is definitely the promised land for such an inspiring adventure.  Born and
currently living in that lovely island, I fell in love with its biodiversity, its history and its inhabitants’
hospitality discovered during tens of years spent on exploring each part of its wonderful regions.
After studying English language, I got involved in a Master Program specialized in Engineering in Cultural
and Leisure Tourism and worked for an anglophone company at the same time. Besides, I passionately
accompanied travelers who were seeking for visiting a welcoming multicultural country embellished by a
unique and fascinating nature along with preserved historical sites and captivating sceneries.
Thanks to that enriching experience which enabled me to share my passion for traveling with English and

DAY 1: Arrival in Antananarivo, the capital city of Madagascar

DAY 2: Journey to the Andasibe village

DAY 3: Meet and “listen to” the biggest lemur of Madagascar, the Indri Indri.

DAY 4: Drive towards the city of Antsirabe

DAY 5: Road trip to Ranomafana, a village in the southern part of the Highlands

DAY 6: Ranomafana National Park’s visit: meet the Bamboo Lemur and other

lemurs, birds and reptiles species

DAY 7: Journey to the Ambalavao village, a visit of the UNESCO classified old town

of the city of Fianarantsoa can be done

DAY 8 Visit of the Anjà Park  to meet the ring-tailed lemur and drive to Ranohira.

DAY 9: Isalo National Park's visit through several thematic excursions

DAY 10: Road trip to Ifaty, a coastal village well-known for its beaches

DAY 11 to Day 13: Relaxing day in Ifaty where you can swim, lie down on the beach

or go visiting the famous spiny forest

DAY 14:  Drive towards Tulear city, flight back to Antananarivo.

DAY 15: Day Use and Departure (international flight). End of the trip
ARRIVAL IN ANTANANARIVO
DAY 01

Landing of your international flight at


Ivato airport in Madagascar. Hooray! Welcome to
Madagascar!
Your visa can be issued at the airport. After getting
your luggage, we suggest you exchange money right
away. The driver who'll wait for you at the custom
border will surely assist if you want. He will bring a sing
for you will know him.
Afterwards, he will bring you to the Belvedere hotel, a
charming hotel located right in the city center.

ANTANANARIVO-ANDASIBE
DAY 02

After a breakfast taken at your hotel, your


driver guide will pick you up at your hotel and will drive you
eastward to Andasibe, a journey of about 138 km and taking
around three and a half hours. Andasibe has a national park
of 810 hectares. This national park is considered one of the
nicest and well-known parks of Madagascar. There, you will
have some time to visit some private parks at night at your
charge. Here are some possibilities:
o The Mitsinjo park which has a lot of animal and
tree/flower species to see. You can meet lemur there as
well, but the private park is well-known for its diversity of
amphibian species, especially the colored frogs and for its
large amount of reptile species notably the bright-colored
chameleon, lots of geckos and snakes.
o VOI (Vondron'olona Ifotony): a small local reserve
managed by local people which also protects different
species of animal and flowers: Some group of Indris,
diademed sifakas, wooly lemurs, reptiles, amphibians and
different insects like the famous giraffe necked weevil.
o Vakona Private Park which is famous for its lemur’s
islands, its crocodile park, but also the possibility of a night
visit to have the chance to see nocturnal species.

ANDASIBE NATIONAL PARK
DAY 03

This day, you will make a visit of the Andasibe


National Park. You can choose between different
kind of hikes: from two to eight hours hike. There,
you will find 11 species of lemurs, many species of
birds, large chameleons, an orchid park, rosewood
trees, lianas, etc. In this forest, the largest of the
lemurs is found - the Indri. Night will be spent at the
same hotel.

DAY 04 ANDASIBE-ANTSIRABE

After having enjoyed the lemurs and other wealth of


the rainforest, you will be driven back towards Antananarivo. Just
after driving through the capital, you will begin your adventure to
the South of Madagascar. On the well-known National Road 7,
you will see Ambatolampy, a small town at 1500m altitude,
considered as the coldest small town of Madagascar due to the
mountain range of Ankaratra, which separates this place from the
heat of the West of the island. There is a possibility to visit a small
family factory that produces aluminium cooking pots and other
kitchen utensils, which will be later sold everywhere on the red
island. It is very amazing to see how it would be possible to create
objects of quality from the simple raw materials. In the afternoon,
you cross regions where agriculture is quite advanced compared
to the remains of the country; you see rice and vegetable fields.
Arrival in Antsirabe at the end of the afternoon. The town of
Antsirabe has several names: city of water, of precious stones, but
also the city of "pousse-pousse" or rickshaw.

DAY 05

Your today’s destination is Ranomafana, you will first


pass by Ambositra village, a journey which takes
about two hours, this city is well known for being
Malagasy craftsmen. You may want to visit the sculp-
tors during their working hours if you wish to. They
are the "Zafimaniry", an ethnic group with Asiatic
origin, particularly known for their beautiful wood
sculptures and marquetry.
Afterwards, you will be driven further about 150km,
to the South East, to reach Ranomafana with its
rainforest rich in endemic fauna and flora. Ranomafa-
na has a national park with impressive waterfalls, hot
springs, lemurs, birds and so on.

RANOMAFANA NATIONAL PARK
DAY 06

This day, you will make a visit of the nice Ranomafana Na-
tional Park. An experienced local guide, that you can easily
book on the spot, will lead you during your today's hike to
discover the place which hides the most diverse plant species
of Madagascar. You can choose the type and the duration of
walk.
This park, of which the surface consists of granite, is
stretched over 39,222 acres with many waterfalls between the
rock formations. The climate is tropical with rainfall of 2700
mm per year and the park holds at least 12 species of lemurs,
about 70 species of reptiles and amphibians along with 90
species of butterflies. This tropical rainforest is known for its
different types of half-monkeys, such as Hapalemur Dore, the
Grand Hapalemur griseus and Hapalemur, but you'll also find
many chameleons and other micro-organisms and lots of
beautiful flora.

RANOMAFANA-AMBALAVAO
DAY 07

This day, your driver guide will drive you to the Ambalavao
village. You will be first driven through Fianarantsoa, which
also means "the city where you learn good manners". It is
the capital of the Betsileo ethnic group, and the city of 1001
churches. Fianarantsoa has its remarkable old town, which
stays on the list of the world heritages to be maintained.
Then, you arrive in Ambalavao after having crossed a bend-
ing road and a landscape characterized by agricultural
vocation, particularly of rice farming and vineyards. Ambal-
avao is known for its weekly zebu market. Here, you have
the possibility to visit the small manufacture of the "An-
taimoro paper", still made by hand and using the traditional
methods of the old Egypt, a workshop you can visit at your
hotel.

AMBALAVAO-RANOHIRA
DAY 08

Your destination for today is Ranohira, a 175km-drive


which will take 4/5 hours. But, after just a few minutes’drive
from Ambalavao, you will visit the private lemurs’park
called Anjà Park. This is a reserve runned by the local
community which hides plenty of cultural and historical
remains. The fauna is mainly represented by a large colony
of maki lemurs (about 300, whereas they were almost
extinct 20 years ago), as well as many birds and chamele-
ons. The royal carp abounds in the water. The view from a
rocky promontory is amazing. A good breath of fresh air!
We would suggest you to leave early this day so that you
can still visit this park before lunch time: lemurs are much
more actif in the morning. After the visit, you will head to
Ranohira which is a village near the Isalo National Park. The
landscape you drive through today is getting drier and you
drive through steppe-like area until you arrive at the beau-
tiful mountains of the Isalo Massif.

ISALO RANCH | BREAKFAST-DINNER


ISALO NATIONAL PARK
DAY 09

Full day dedicated to visit the Isalo national park! This park covers
80,000 hectares and consists of a series of elongated rock forma-
tions. Animals that can be seen here are the Fosa (fretkat), the
ring-tailed lemur, the sifaka and the brown lemur. Also, birds and
chameleons can be found in this beautiful park. Several excursions
through the national park are possible. One of these hikes will take
you to a magnificent natural swimming pool where you can just
relax. Furthermore, you can visit the "Canyon of makis" as well as
many other possibilities. Because you have a full day, it’s up to you
to choose which part of the park you want to visit. Park guides can
help you make the right choice.

ISALO RANCH | BREAKFAST-DINNER


RANOHIRA- IFATY
DAY 10

After the breakfast, your car is waiting for


you to bring you further to Ifaty, your
beach destination. Your today's journey leads you on a
landscape characterized by high plateau, vast savannas
stretching to the horizon, limited by impressive mountain
ranges. You first cross the center of the sapphires region.
According to experts of precious stones, this place is
among the few places on Earth, which is rich in precious
stones. The majority of the inhabitants in the village of
Manombo are merchants of sapphires and other precious
stones. Then, you arrive at the end of the National Road 7,
in the city of Tulear, which also means "where one can
drop its anchor". It is also the capital of the province of the
same name, and the least populated region of Madagas-
car. It is known for its dry and arid landscapes. You may
take a lunch at the botanical garden of the city and have
lunch there if you wish to. Upon your arrival in Ifaty, you
will spend the night at a charming hotel: Bamboo Club.

From DAY 11
to DAY 13

In Ifaty, you will spend three free days, during which you
can relax on the beach or calmly swim because of the
coral reefs which protect this place. You will also be able
to book leisure activities on your own and as you want,
such as swimming in the turquoise sea, visiting fisher-
men village or snorkelling. The spiny forest is also worth
a visit with its giant Baobab trees.

IFATY-TULEAR-ANTANANARIVO
DAY 14

Today, you will be transferred back to the airport of Tulear.


There, you will take your return flight to Antananarivo. Upon
your arrival in the capital, the driver of your hotel will wait for
you at the custom border and will transfer you to your hotel
which is near the airport.

ANTANANARIVO- DEPARTURE
DAY 15

Today, you will have a Day Use at Bois Vert Hotel.


Depending on your international flight, you will be
transferred back to the Ivato Airport to take your
flight back home. Hence, you will leave Madagascar
with hopefully unforgettable memories.
