1. Introduction

LIGHT is a youth based organization that was founded by a group of senior high school
students of Sta. Catalina National High School in Candelaria, Quezon. In the past few decades, they
successfully create events which might give awarenesses to a particular problem of a teenager
nowadays. Subsequently, they had also conducted many counseling to help teenagers to deal with the
period of adolescent. Whereas, LIGHT aims to shape the mind of youth to value their peers and to
treasure the society in which they live in. As we believe that this will lead to a wealthy generation in the
future.

2. Purpose

Some teenagers nowadays were addicted to their computers which will affect their physical
and mental health. As according to Oberlin College of Computer Science, aside from being dependent on
the Internet, addicts may develop technostress wherein they internalize how a computer works, such as
accelerated time and perfect results. It can also cause social withdrawal, feeling more at ease interacting
with people online rather than in person. Whereas, this statistic is actually alarming since this is going to
be the image of our future generation. Nevertheless, a symposium for a cost would work to guide
teenagers to cope up with their addiction to computer. Therefore, this project needs to be addressed as
soon as possible in order to bust up this current problem of our society which will be more alarming if
not terminated earlier.

3. Project Description

Our project that was entitled as "Prevention of Teenager's Addiction in Computer" is a


symposium concerning to teenagers nowadays who are excessively using their computers and electronic
gadgets that will lead to addiction. This project was built in order to guide teenagers to use their
computer in a right way. As we all know that computer give us the 'instant' which is great for some
aspects. But subsequently, it has some factors which ruins our health at all. Some of them are totally
harming our health.

This becomes a great approach because LIGHT is the first organization in Candelaria who
planned and work out for this prevention that is indeed fruitful. Whereas, we sort out the exact structure
of the symposium that can really make a big impact to every teenagers out there who were losing their
minds in using computers excessively in gaming and surfing.

Why not reach out? Since those benefits in the end of the project focuses on teenagers
which are the next generation. In which this project will save our younger generation to the toxic side of
the society. Let us take a step now! That is the reason why this organization is founded and still doing
fruitful stuff like this. LIGHT is always willing to help and guide teenagers till they find themselves.

4. Methodology and Timeliness

In order to successfully implement this project, intended procedure will be followed:


Firstly, an assigned presiding officer will have an oration as a first portion of the symposium. Then,
someone will be assigned for a discussion about computer addiction and its several types for 15 minutes.
Next, someone will be discussing the symptoms of being addicted to computer for another 15 minutes.
Afterwards, someone will discuss the cause and effect of computer addiction to teenagers for 20
minutes. Subsequently, for only 10 minutes, an assigned psychologist will have a deliberation with
regards to treatment for computer addiction. Lastly, there will be an acknowledgement for participants
and facilitator of the symposium. All in all, the time alloted for this symposium is at least 1 hour and 30
minutes.

5. Support Needed and Cost

This project need the support of local DSWD of Quezon Province together with a
licensed psychologist to supervise the entire period of the symposium. Then estimated expenses for this
project are stated in the following: Rental for the conference room or a multi-purpose building to
undertake this will range around Php50000, chairs to accommodate at least 150 teenagers will ranger
around Php 30,000 and a meal and beverage for facilitators will range around Php 10,000.
