I. PROCESSIONAL
As a flaming candle is lit, a cap vested and a pin affixed, a student nurse
escalates into a much higher height of his pursuit of quality nursing education;
where respect is bestowed and responsibility is highly expected.
Recognizing the importance and symbolic significance of a cap, a pin and a
lamp in the nursing profession, the Saint Francis of Assisi College School of
Nursing celebrates its time-honored tradition of Capping, Pinning and Candle
Lighting Ceremony. (pause)
Let us all stand for the processional starting with the SFAC Administrators,
together with our Guest Speaker (to be formally introduced later in the program),
followed by the Faculty members & Clinical Instructors, and the student candidates
together with their parents/special guests, (and our successful alumni members
and board passers in the recent Nursing Licensure Exams.)
The candle lighting represents the student’s acceptance of the essence of the
profession by giving light amidst the darkness of human suffering and pain. The
symbol of light from a lamp signifies what a nurse’s caring heart and hands could
do. It is a symbol of hope for love, understanding, health and life.
May we now call on Mr. Roy Quito, Ms.Anne Yagaya-Chan and Ms. Sharon
Dimatulac to bestow the symbolic representations on our candidates:
