1. Rohit’s age is 12 years and Geeta’s age is 15 years. Express:

(i) Rohit’s age as a percent of Geeta’s age.

(ii) Geeta’s age as a percent of Rohit’s age.

2. Gopal deposits every $ 300 in his savings bank account every


month from his salary. If his salary is $ 1,250 per month, what
percent of his salary does he save?

3. The pass percent in an examination is 93 %. If 259 fails, how


many candidates are there in all?

4. This year the profit of a factory was 15 % more than last year.
This year the profit was $ 17,480. What was it last year?

5. The number of voters in a town is 1,20,000. Out of these, 75 %


go for poll for an election between A and B, If B gets 45 % of the
votes polled; find the votes polled for A.

6. Out of the monthly income of $ 2,500; a man spends $ 1,750.


What percent of his income does he save every month?

7. Mr. Singh’s monthly salary is $ 15,000. This month he got


promotion and an increment of $ 3,000 in his salary. Express his
increment as a percent of his original salary per month.

8. The price of an article decreased from $ 20 to $ 16; find the


percentage decrease.

9. After a decrease of 35 %; a number becomes 520. Find the


original number.

10. Increase 150 by 10 % and decrease the same by 15 %. Find


the new number in each case.

11. The population of a place in a particular year increased by


15 %. Next year it decreased by 15%. Find the net increase or
decrease per cent in the initial population.

12. While measuring a line segment of length 5 cm, it was


measured 5.2 cm by mistake. Find the percentage error in
measuring the line segment.

13. Mr. Sharma has a monthly salary of $ 7, 500. If he spends


$ 6,250 every month, find his expenditure and savings in percent?

14. In a school there are 1500 boys and some are girls. If the
number of boys are 75 %, calculate the number of girls.

15. A man bought an old car and spent 20 % of the cost on repairs.
If his total cost including repairs was $ 1,20,000, at what price did
he buy the car?

16. The total capacity of a tank is 200 litres. At present it is 60 %


full with water. Some water is taken from the tank and it is found
that the tank is now 35 % full. Find the quantity of water taken.

17. In a mixture of two liquids A and B: 35 % is liquid B. If the total


quantity of the mixture is 20 kg; find the quantity of A, by weight,
in the mixture.

18. The price of an article increased from $ 16 to $ 20; find the


percentage increase.

19. After an increase of 20 %; a number becomes 540. Find the


original number.

20. A dealer purchased a fan for $ 1080. After allowing a discount


of 25% on its marked price, he gains 25%. Find the marked price of
the fan.

21. A dealer bought a refrigerator for $ 11515. After allowing a


discount of 16% on its marked price, he gains 20%. Find the
marked price of the refrigerator.

22.Harry bought 20 kg of rice at $18 per kg and 25 kg of rice at


$ 16 per kg. He mixed the two varieties and sold the mixture at
$ 19 per kg. Find his gain percent in the whole transaction.
