WORK METHOD STATEMENT

FOR
LAYING RUBBLE WALL

SCOPE OF WORK

The scope of work covers the following activities such as setting out, construction of concrete base,
rubble stone and others related work.

TOOLS AND MAN POWER

Tools and manpower for this activities.

1) Backhoe - 1 no
2) Vibrator poker - 1 no
3) Air compressor - 1 no
4) Mixer - 1 no
5) Scope - 2 nos.
6) Trowel - 4 nos.
7) Wheel Borrow - 2 nos.
8) Supervisor - 1
9) Carpenter - 4
10)Bar Bender - 4
11)Skill workers - 4
12)General workers - 4

SETTING OUT

1. Surveyor shall peg the proposed alignment of concrete base as per stated in the construction
drawing.
2. Setting out shall be pegged by using 1” X 2 “ hard wood timber.
3. Setting out pegs shall be protected and firmly planted.
4. Proposed level shall be mark at the level peg.

CONCRETE BASE

1. In general formwork of base shall be proceeded after laying the lean concrete.
2. Formwork shall be constructed by sawn timber and plywood.
3. The formwork shall be strong enough to receive load and deflection during the placing of the
concrete.
4. Firstly, side of base formwork shall be installed. The height of formwork shall be at lease as
per base depth.
5. Formwork shape, size and dimension shall follow as per structure size specified in construction
drawing.
6. Strutting and ties shall be fixed to avoid strain. Strutting shall be fitted by 50 mm X 100 mm
sawn timber.
7. Dimension of structure end product can be made by measure from side to other side of
formwork.
8. Surface of formwork shall be smooth to get a better end product.
9. Before concreting works all loose wires and debris shall be removed.
10. Cutting and bending of reinforcement bars shall be done on site in the bar fabrication yard.
11. Reinforcement bars shall be bent by mechanical bending machine.
12. The dimension, size, spacing, lap and length of reinforcement bars shall follow as per
construction drawing.
13. Reinforcement bars shall be tied by using galvanized iron wire.
14. Reinforcement bars shall be placed and secured in the formwork
15. 50 mm thick concrete cover shall be placed as per required.
16. Reinforcement bars shall be free from mud, oil, paint, release agent, loose rust, loose mill scale
or grease before concreting.
17. Ready mix concrete from are proposed as concrete supplier for this project.
18. Concrete grade for base shall be in grade 25 as per construction drawing.
19. Concrete shall not be allowed to fall freely more than 1.5 meters height.
20. Concrete shall be compacted by vibrator poker.

LAYING RUBBLE WALL

1. The work shall be carried out as per stated in the construction drawing.
2. The rubble wall shape and dimension shall be as per stated in the detail drawing.

3. Stone rubble shall be granite.
4. Stoned rubble size shall be 150 mm to 300 mm.
5. Stone rubble shall be laid with mix sizes
6. Stone rubble shall be bonded by 1:3 cement mortar
7. All exposed joints are to be neatly pointed in 1:3 cement motar.
8. Stone rubble shall be true in line and the shape as per construction drawing.
9. Rubble wall height shall be as per finish road level.
10. The surface against which the work is to be placed shall be moistened with clean water a little
in advance of construction and then covered with a layer of cement motar about 50 mm thick.
11. All voids in the structure shall be packed solidly with cement motar and stone spell.
12. All motar shall be used within 30 minutes of mixing and no reworking of mortar shall be
permitted there after.
13. Cement motar which has been mixed for more than 30 minutes shall not be used in the works.
14. Every 2000 mm c/c, 100 mm PVC pipe shall be place in the stone rubble as weep holes.
15. 300 mm2 approved drainage materials wrapped in geotextile shall be placed at the back of the
weep holes.
16. On top of rubble wall 20 mm thick cement coping shall be laid.
17. The work shall be carried out and finished to the satisfaction of the S.O.
18. Backfilling of excavated trench shall be carried out from the toe of rubble wall.
