Steel Design 1

The document discusses welded connections and provides examples for calculating the capacity of various welded connections. It gives information on materials used like A36 steel with a yield strength of 248 MPa and E70 electrodes with a tensile strength of 485 MPa. It also provides examples of calculating design forces, weld sizes, and values for "a" and "b" members using dynamic analysis methods for welded connections in an angular section, gusset plate, and truss joint.

thickness of 12 mm. An A36 steel is used with a yield stress of 248 MPa, with an E70
electrodes fillet welds with Fu = 485 MPa.
