Tute 6

The document contains 6 questions about calculating voltages induced in different types of antennas from incident plane waves or magnetic fields. Question 1 asks about voltages induced in a vertical antenna and loop antenna from a 1 MHz plane wave. Question 2 asks about finding the field strength given the voltage induced in a tuned loop antenna operating at 500 kHz. Question 3 asks about the voltage induced in a tilted loop antenna.

Q 1. Calculate the voltage induced by a plane wave of field strength 0.01 v/m and frequency 1
MHz in (a) vertical antenna of 8 meters height, (b) a loop antenna of 1 m 2 of 12 turns.
Assuming the plane of the loop being in the plane of propagation of the wave.

Q 2. A loop operating at 500KHz, having 10 turns, 1m2 area, it was found that the maximum
potential difference of 2mv was developed across it. The loop is tuned to resonance. Find
the field strength, if the Q of loop antenna is 30.

Q 3. turns. The loop having

Q=100, is connec
from the direction of
the transmitter.

Q 4. Determine the voltage induced in a loop antenna that has 12 turns and is 1m2. The incident
wave is of 100µV/m field strength and of 10 MHz frequency. The frame of the aerial is
parallel to the direction of propagation of the waves.

Q 5. A square loop antenna has 200turns and each arm of length 1m. This is connected to a
receiver tuned to 10MHz.
from the direction of the transmitter.
Q of the loop is 100.

Q 6. A loop antenna is made by winding 10 turns of wire on 1m2 frame and is located in a
magnetic field of 0.015µ tesla at 10MHz for maximum signal reception. Find:

(a) Induced emf on it

(b) Terminal voltage if the antenna is turned to resonate with 65 ohms resistance in series
with a 25 pf capacitor.
