Recalls Kaps Dec 2017

1. Selegiline is a monoamine oxidase inhibitor used to treat depression and Parkinson's disease. 2. Acyclovir competes with viral DNA polymerase to be incorporated into viral DNA, causing premature chain termination and inactivating the viral enzyme. 3. 3. Selegilline

The mechanism of action of selegiline is as a Monoamine Oxidase Inhibitor

andMonoamine Oxidase-B Inhibitor. Selegiline is an inhibitor of monamine oxidase used
in the treatment of depression and as adjunctive therapy in combination with levodopa
and carbidopa in the therapy of Parkinson disease.
4. Acyclovir MOA
Acyclovir triphosphate competes with deoxyguanosine triphosphate as a substrate for viral DNA
polymerase and is itself incorporated into the viral DNA, causing premature DNA-chain termination
(see Figure 38.9). Irreversible binding of the acyclovir-containing
template primer to viral DNA polymerase inactivates the enzyme.
The drug is less eff ective against the host enzyme
