“HOMEMADE GLUE”

Paste is the chief topic in this article. Paste is widely used worldwide. From

schools to offices, from homes to buildings, paste is always present to help

individuals in their daily lives. This material can be used in simple works or as an

emergency utensil; from torn books to stripped parts of paper works; this tool is

very significant in our lives.

Paste is a thick, soft, moist substance, usually produced by mixing dry ingredients

with liquid. It is a substance which is used to attach light things, such as papers,

together just by rubbing it to one object to the other. This substance has only

limited grip when used for it is not that sticky but is suitable to be used in fastening

papers and such.

This study talks about the problem of some people nowadays, especially to parents.

This study is focused on the problem of children who often eat everything they

touch or possess, which can cause their body sickness and even death. This study

helps this problem that is common to parents who are very busy at work that they

can’t even look up to their innocent children. By this study, parents should worry

no more about these problems their children might cause. This project has a unique

quality that makes it differ from the usual pastes we use every day. These qualities
of our project, the homemade paste, really come in handy to our fellows with

problems about toxics in their homes. This project isn’t only helpful to us, but is

also easy to organize in times of financial crisis and emergencies to come.

STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM

1. Whether or not making homemade glue helps on addressing parents problem

when their children run out of commercial glue or when it has become

unavailable

2. Whether or not homemade glue is at par with commercially

distributed/branded glue

SIGNIFICANCE OF THE STUDY

The Importance of this study is grounded upon practicality of making one’s own

glue. Glue is an essential tool when it comes to craft and art making, especially

when it comes to children’s projects or even home based do-it-yourself projects.

People can save an ample amount of money by making their own glue, thus

making a cheaper alternative to the usual commercial and branded type of glue.
 SCOPE AND LIMITATIONS

This study covers the topic on homemade glue. This research includes only the

steps in making the homemade glue and the importance of it and the materials

needed in order to make it.

REVIEW OF RELATED LITERATURE

As per gathered research on the topic of making Homemade Glue, several

materials may be used in materializing it. Many materials that are readily available

in stores can be utilized; the following are the most common of them: flour, milk,

water, sugar, vinegar. Several studies and research show the knowledge on making

home glue helps both parents and their children in various ways and that the said

glue is very much the same as those distributed commercially, it holds quite fine

and is even much stronger than the latter.

METHODOLOGY

A. Materials

 Water
  Powdered Milk

 Vinegar

 Coffee Filter

 Cup

 Measuring cups

 Baking Soda

B. Procedure

1. Mix 1/4 cup hot tap water with 2 T powdered milk. Stir until dissolved.

2. Stir 1 T of vinegar into the mixture. The milk will begin to separate into

solid curds and watery whey.

3. Continue stirring until the milk is well-separated. Pour the curds and whey

into a coffee filter positioned over a cup.

4. Slowly lift the filter, draining the whey. Keep the curd, which is in the filter.

Squeeze the filter to remove as much liquid as possible from the curd.

5. Discard the whey (i.e., pour it down a drain) and return the curd to a cup.

Use a spoon to break the curd into small pieces.

7. Mix thoroughly until the glue becomes smooth and more liquid. If the

mixture is too thick, add a bit more water.

8. If the glue is too lumpy, add more baking soda. The finished glue can vary in

consistency from a thick liquid to a thick paste, depending on how much

water has been added, how much curd was present, and how much baking

soda was added.

Use your glue as you would any school paste. Have fun! When not in use, cover

your cup of glue with plastic wrap. Over time, its consistency will become

smoother and clearer. Unrefrigerated glue will 'spoil' after 24-48 hours. Discard the

glue when it develops a spoiled milk smell.

RESULTS, CONCLUSIONS AND RECOMMENDATIONS

After a series of trial and errors, the perfect example of homemade glue was

achieved and was used on several materials to test strength. It was found out that

this homemade glue can be used on plastic paper and wooden objects, but it is
more recommended that it be used in crafting in paper and plastic as its strength

when used on wood is yet to be perfected to ensure durability.
