The impact of communication on individual: verbal & non-verbal.

In our today life, verbal and non-verbal communication show how our interaction with other

people especially in business, interpersonal, our relationships, our financial, personal success

and our physical. Verbal and non-verbal communication play important roles in our interaction

with others by enhancing positive communication and relationship with others. Our success as

individual depend on our ability to communicate effectively. Almost everyone requires to use

communication skills. The stronger and the better your communication skill the more success

you achieve in life, example higher chances of getting hired regardless of what kind of job you

are applying, also in relationship either in the community as a neighbour, with spouses, family

or in workplace. Effective verbal communication skills include more than just talking but also

non-verbal include body language such as gestures, facial expression, eye-contact and posture.

When we touch other people such as by a firm handshake or warm hug also indicates a person’s

feeling or level of comfort but also personality characteristics of a person.

Firstly, the impact on our life as individual for communication involving word, whether they’re

spoken, written or signed but we also have technology and multimedia to enable us to

communicate with other people through facetime, facebook, instragram, twitter and etc,

wherever they are and no the physical distance. We also need to use verbal communication to

inform others of our need and or to impart knowledge to other people. Sometimes we do not

articulate our self clearly, or our words get misled by others, by using communication it help

clarify the misunderstanding and provides the missing information. It’s also can be used to

correct what’s is wrong and more effective than in action. By using non-verbal communication,

Its also can be use as a tools to persuade others, create opportunity for debate, stimulate

thoughts and creativity and create new relationship.


Secondly, using verbal and non-verbal skill can help other to understand and respond to what

are you saying or what are you explaining. If you didn’t have proper communication skills,

people won’t know what you are working on or appreciate on what you are doing. It’s important

to convey your thought and ideas. Communicating effectively will provide you with an

opportunity to make good impression on your supervisors, co-workers or when interview. You

also can be viewed as a team player when you co-operate well with your team mate. If you can

communicate well you can provide better service to your customer and also will feel

comfortable asking question either in workplace or outside of your working area.

It’s also important to developed good nonverbal communication. When you pay attention to

nonverbal cues, It’s makes you a better speaker and a better listener. When you’re talking, be

more conscious with nonverbal you are sending and consider the situation that you in. Example

when a friend has come asking for a help, This situation is already very stressful for your friend,

Don’t make reaction by smiling to broadly or shaking her his hand too vigorously. If you

already know you can’t help him, be honest in your expression of emotions. This kind of

nonverbal signals should match tone based on situation that you encounter. It’s also can

maintain a good relationship and better understanding on other people. Body language is an

essential part of communication, as it helps you learn more clues to the true emotions and

attitudes of the person you are communicating with and can respond to their action more

appropriately. Body language is a complex interplay of factors such as how we position our

bodies (folding arms or inclining the head), facial expression by smiling, frown or raised

eyebrows, eye-contact or physical reactions.
