To be honest, at first, I was afraid that we were never going to pull this off.
The musical we chose was a virtual unknown, a GoFundMe-based play created by an off-Broadway
company, Starkid Productions. While the script and musical was available online, it was near impossible
to source out the technical and physical equipment necessary to stage the actual play. Our schedule
made it difficult to even meet together, much less practice the songs and dances.
Yet through the grace of God and the passion of everyone involved, we pulled through.
Four months of classes. Three weeks of preparation. Two examinations. One big performance.
It has been a privilege to watch the class coming together as one, from virtual strangers strung together
by a common class, to a family supporting each other as we go forth and showcase our talents. In these
halls, we are not slaves to the healthcare system; we are budding actors, breakout singers, and
astounding performers, ready to pull you into a whole new world.
Tonight, let us go beyond the four walls of this classroom and venture to the quiet neighborhood of
Hatchetfield to meet Paul and his motley crew of boring office workers. Something sinister is afoot in
this land, and it is up to them to rid the world of the infestation arising in these halls. But beware,
viewers, or you might find that the apotheosis may be upon us all.
Godspeed,
Jillian Hannah Uy
