Data Sheet - PetroGuard Modular Screens

The document discusses PetroGuard modular screens which provide reservoir management and sand control capabilities. The screens control flow through multiple zones using sliding sleeves and can isolate zones during operations. The screens were originally developed as part of a single-trip multizone system and provide flow control within long production intervals.

PetroGuard® Modular Screens

PROVIDES THE COMBINATION OF RESERVOIR
MANAGEMENT WITH SAND CONTROL

OVERVIEW
PetroGuard® Modular screens are designed to control the flow of multiple screens
in one producing interval, including the ability to completely shutoff flow, by shifting
only one or a few sliding sleeves for that interval. These screens can be used to
control multiple flow intervals in a well by installing zonal isolation packers between
sets of the modular screens. The flow control capability can also be used to
isolate all zones in order to prevent fluid loss to the reservoir while working in the
well. This stops unwanted fluid production or injection from/to one interval while
allowing other intervals to continue flowing, or to prevent crossflow from one
interval to another at different times in the life of the well.
PetroGuard Modular screens are part of a system of screens and integrated sliding
sleeves that control inflow or outflow from a group of screens by opening or closing
the sliding sleeves. Flow from the reservoir passes through the outer filter layer
of each screen joint, then travels through an annular space between the filter
layer and the non-perforated basepipe. Flow passes through this annular space
until it reaches one of the integrated sliding sleeves, located at the bottom of the
producing interval and at one or more additional points throughout the interval.
The modular screen design was first developed as an integral part of Halliburton
award-winning Enhanced Single-Trip Multizone (ESTMZ™) system, which can frac
pack or gravel pack several zones during one workstring trip into the well, while
isolating all zones from wellbore pressures except the one zone being packed.
At the same time, it isolates all zones from wellbore pressure while tripping the
workstring out of the well after packing is complete. This screen design can be
valuable in applications unrelated to ESTMZ systems as well, such as standalone
screen applications with the need for flow control of different parts of a long
production or injection interval.
