B A Set - Specification
1.6 The maximum duration of the use of set shall not be less than 45 minutes.
1.7 The main valve of the air cylinder shall be arranged that it can be operated in
the worn position by the wearer.
02 MATERIAL 2.1 The cylinder of the set shall be made of light weight composite cylinders with
aluminum liners wrapped in carbon fiber with a glass over wrap and surface
should be resin finished. .
2.2 The face mask shall be made from silicone rubber.
2.3 The back plate of BA set shall be glass fiber reinforce polyamide to with stand
high heat and flames and automatically shaped to give a comfortable
distribution of masses &remain steady on the user’s back even when crouching
or crawling . it should have soft padded harness made of flame retardant fabric.
Extra secure fasteners are made for quick on and off and should be aramid blend
material for extra durability .The back plate should be approved to EN 137 class
II and CE marked and designed to accept cylinder having diameter from 110 mm
to 170mm.
2.4 The cover of the lung demand valve shall be made from silicon.
2.5 A material of the face mask vision shall be de-misting shall be scratch proof,
polycarbonate
2.6 The shoulder strap, hip belt shall be made from Kevlar with Nomex padding
2.7 High and low pressure hose shall be made from the neoprene and natural
rubber and shall instant the respective pressure.
2.8 The high and low pressure hose shall be such that it cannot be interchanged.
Optional second connection for fire rescue or airline connection should be
preferably be provided.
03 WEIGHT 3.1 The Gross weight of the ready to use B A set with face mask and fully charged
compressed air cylinder shall not exceed 10.5 kg .
04 FACE MASK 4.1 The face mask shall be in accordance and approved as per EN 136
4.2 The face mask shall have double reflex sealing, speech diaphragm, inner mask,
neck strap, five finger head band with push-in type connection lung demand
valve.
4.3 The side sealing of the face mask shall be gas tight and shall be possible to fit the
face mask on almost all face counters
4.4 The visor fitted on the face mask shall be made from scratch proof poly carbonate
with maximum view to the wearer and shall have demisting characteristics
4.5 The face mask shall be provided with inhalation and exhalation valve, which can be
replaceable type in case required
05 AIR CYLINDER 5.1 The air cylinder shall have a minimum water capacity of 06 /6.6 liters and free
air capacity of minimum 1800 liters when filled at a pressure of 300 bar
5.2 The dimension of the cylinder shall be minimum 140 mm dia and maximum 584
mm length
5.3 The working pressure of the cylinder shall not be less than 300 Bar and the test
pressure shall be 1.5 times the working pressure.
5.4 The weight of cylinder shall not be more than 3.8 kg.
5.5 The cylinder shall be supplied with value made of nickel plated brass and shall
comply with EN 144 II
5.6 The design of the valve shall be such that it shall be protected against blockage
and shall avoid transmission of particulate matter that may be contained in the
compressed air.
5.7 The design of the valve should be such that it should be located in a such way that
it cannot be closed advertently during the use
06 PRESSURE 6.1 The set shall be supplied with a small, light sturdy and encapsulated,
REDUCER high air delivery Pressure reducer valve which directly be fitted to the
cylinder valve assembly.
6.2 Small light sturdy and encapsulated pressure reducer with high air
delivery (enough for two user), interface adaptable for the electronic
pressure gauge cum warning whistle cum distress signal unit cum
temperature sensor, capable of taking a second demand valve system and
direct filling device and incorporating a safety pressure relief valve.
6.3 The pressure reduce valve shall reduce the pressure from 300 Bar to 8-
10 Bar.
6.4 The pressure reducer valve shall have a high pressure outlet and low
Pressure outlet With warning whistle.
6.5 The high pressure outlet shall be connected to electronic signaling and
warning unit and the low pressure outlet shall be connected to Lung
Demand Valve.
6.6 The pressure reducer valve shall have a provision of safety pressure
Relief valve.
6.7 The pressure reducer valve shall comply to all the safety requirement
stipulated under
EN- 137
6.8 The pressure reducer should provide up to 1000 LPM flow of air.
07 LUNG DEMAND 7.1 The set shall be provided with plug-in quick removable type lung demand valve
VALVE with a rubber hose having a quick connect coupling connected to the low
pressure side of pressure reducing valve. The LDV should be connected from the
front side of the mask. The LDV should be a balanced piston design lung demand
valve offering stability, quick operation & first breath activated with a centrally
located switch off button & tough wrap around silicone cover incorporated in
an elegant streamlined shape for easy handling – even when wearing gloves.
7.2 Lung demand valve retainer should be provided on waist-belt to plug in the
demand valve when not being used to prevent dust &other particles from;
Indication of the time to whistle duration continuously updated every second
based on actual air consumption of the user.

The unit should work on a 9 Volt alkaline battery with capacity of about 100
hours in normal use

7.3 The signaling and warning unit shall show digital air pressure in the cylinder, free
air status of the cylinder battery level indicator, time to whistle and ambient
temperature.
7.4 The signaling and warning unit shall have two independent low air pressure
warning
Signals i.e. visual warning with powerful red warning lamps and the other one
shall be pneumatic whistle of 90 Decibels sound intensify.
7.5 The unit shall also equip with automatic distress signal alarm with built in
motion sensor. There should also be a provision to activate DSU manually by the
user in any case of danger.
7.6 The signaling and warning device should give warning whistle audible 10
minutes before the nominal duration of the set or the pressure in the cylinder
falls to + 55 bar.
08 PACKING 8.1 The breathing apparatus shall be packed in hard bag molded plastic or FRP
09 MARKING 9.1 The trade mark of manufactures identification shall be marked on the face mask
demand valve, pressure reducer and back place. The serial number of the set
and the date of manufacturing shall be marked on the back plate.
