INCREASING SUICIDE TENDENCY IN
STUDENT

INTRODUCTION -
Suicide, ‘a self destructive action’, or ‘a intentional
killing of oneself ‘.
Each and every year 1000 of student and children are dying not from
cancer or car accident, but by their own hands.
Suicide is second leading cause of death for college student and the
primary cause of suicide is untreated depression. Going to collage can be
difficult transition period in which student may feel lost, lonely ,confused,
anxious, inadequate and stressed.
On the basis of the relevant observations the student who are
quite ,reserved, depressed, and socially isolated. But it is all up to
teachers and parents to identify the suicide warning signs and should try
to draw them out from the depression.
Student has increased four-fold in the last few decades and is now
the third leading cause of death among youth 15-25 years of age.
Student is the permanent solution of a temporary problem ,but in a
negative aspect.
Everyday more than 1000 teenagers will think about suicide and 18
will be successful in committing it.
According to surveys, one of five college student believe that their
depression level is higher than they could bear.
In USA ,every 90 minutes a teenager commits suicide. The
national suicide rate has increased 78% between 1952 to 1992.
INDIA reportedly ranks highest in the number of teenage suicides
and GUJARAT is at no.18 . It means suicide rates have increased 300%.
In Iraq ,there are more than 1700 suicides by end of year 2009
only.
REASONS -
Student are resorting suicide because they are getting reluctant
to get treatment and especially in our country going to psychiatrist clinic
is a taboo.
Static regarding suicides are indicating us to run a suicide
prevention programs but

unfortunately the college authorities are not taking this issue seriously.
And even i

government is also casual towards this issue and media is also a big
culprit in this issue. “Students get thought of committing suicide from
movies ,when a depressed student sees any suicide incident in movie
then that scene reinforce the thought of committing suicide”.
‘ The deficiency of consciousness and education of
psychological illness is also the cause of suicide’.
‘The deficiency of consciousness and education of

It is a mistake to believe that bone can handle depression
by his own and due to this people don’t take step and finally they
engulfed by suicide.

“ The another reason is the high expectations of the parents make


them emotionally weak and insecure and child loses the mental balances
to over come the problem”.
Another reasons are –

 Parents force their children to take-up the career.


 College partial attitude.
 Emotions – like ,love affairs.
 Feeling of inferiority.

SOLUTION -

It is suggestion to all teachers and principals of colleges to use one page


of their college website for a suicide prevention program. And student
also should take initiative to take with administrator of collage to start
the suicide is always urgent. If anyone is financially low then low cost
clinic are also available and if anyone is suicidal then that person should
ask help for help otherwise depression will be worsen.
Other ways are –


Parents should understand there child feelings, don’t force
them to do something.
College environment should be friendly ,motivated, and
interactive with students and should be impartial.
Proper purgation of emotions.

We can take the example from the film – ‘3idiots’ and ‘Taare-
zameen-par’.
CONCLUSION
At last ,I can say in today’s environment suicide tendency
among students are very much increasing.

If we want to remove this , everyone should contribute in this


mission . If we see anyone in depression then we should take initiative to
help that person, by having little chat with that person we can prevent
that person from suicide.
“ There is no issue on this earth which can not be handled by the
human mind; after all we are the creation of God and life is a precious gift to
us . We should respect our life and we should preserve for our Almighty ”.
