Lesson 5 Work and Energy

The lesson plan discusses work, energy, and force. It includes objectives, concepts, procedures, sample problems, and evaluation questions. Students will be grouped and assigned tasks to present on related topics. They will also solve sample work problems and problems where force or distance is missing to calculate work. The teacher will evaluate understanding of work concepts and units.

LESSON PLAN WORK AND ENERGY

At the end of the 50 minute discussion, 80% of the learner should be able to:
I. Objectives:
a.) identify situations in which work is done and in which no work is done
b.) describe how work is related to power and energy
c.) calculate the amount of work in a problem given.
d.) manipulate participation during the activity.
II. Subject Matter/Concepts:
A. Topic:
“Work and Energy”
B. Reference:
Science Learners Module 8; pp. 21-24
Additional Learning Material:
C. Value Integration: Following instruction and cooperation for the activity.
III. Procedure:
A.) Preparatory Activity
- Prayer
- Checking of attendance
-Roll calling of groups
B.) Developmental Activity
Recall (Elicit):
The teacher grouped the students according to their favorite subject and assigned tasks to them. Today each group will
present their work as the teacher observe and add additional information.

ENGLISH GROUP: Define the words work, energy and force

FILIPINO GROUP: Explain how work, energy and force are related in tagalog.

D. Motivation (Explore):
MAPEH GROUP: Will draw/act the scenarios on the pictures and identify if there is a work
done?
A. A girl pushing a chair
B. A boy pushing a wall
C. A waiter carrying a tray

E. Lesson Proper
MATH GROUP: will discuss on how to calculate work:
 The unit of work (W) is Nm or J
w
 The unit of force (F) is N
 The unit of displacement (d) is m
F d
 The formula is W= Fxd
F. Activity (Discussing New Concepts and Practicing New Skills; Developing Mastery)
Sample problem: Write the given, formula, solution and answer.
Suppose a woman is pushing a grocery cart with a 500N force along the 7m aisle, how much
work is done in pushing the cart from one end of the aisle to the other?
What if Force (F) is missing? How will you compute the problem?
What if distance (d) is missing? How will you compute the problem?
IV. Generalization
The teacher will ask the students to compute the following problem: (Fastest Worker)
1. F= 200 N d= 50 m W=?
2. F= 5 N d= ? W= 75 J
3. F= ? d= 10 m W= 125 J
4. F= 18 N d= ? W= 90 J
5. F= ? d= 7 m W=112 J

V. Evaluation
The teacher will ask the following questions.
1. What is the SI unit of work?
2. Why an object does moves through a distance?
3. How we can say that work is done in a certain objet?

VI. Assignment
1. What is kinetic and potential energy?
