Chapter 3
Introduction

This chapter consists of research methodology, sampling technique, description of

respondents, research instruments and data gathering procedure, statistical treatment

of data that were used in this study.

Research Methodology

This study is conducted by the design of quantitative research. The researcher used

non-experimental because the study aims to know the effects of cigarettes to teenager

in barangay katipunan Pasig city by asking on the respondents on what are the effects

about the cigarettes addiction to teenager. The researcher used survey research as the

method to determine the individuals of demographic profiles.

Data Gathering Procedure

The first step that the researcher will do is to ask the Permission from barangay

captain of our respondents to conduct the survey. Then after of getting the permission

of the barangay captain, the survey questionnaire will distribute to the respondents. The

respondents will give enough time to answer the questionnaire. After data gathering,

the researcher will collect it to tally, analyze and interpret the data and apply the

statistical treatment to be use in study.

Research Instruments

The research instruments that will be used in collecting data is a researcher made

survey questionnaire. The survey questionnaire has 2 parts such as the profile of the

respondents and statement that are answerable by Strongly Agree, Agree, Uncertain,

Disagree, and Strong Disagree. This study is to know the effects of cigarettes regarding

age, gender, educational attainment, economic, social and health of cigarettes addiction

of teenager in barangay katipunan.

Sampling Technique

A purposive sample is a non-probability sample that is selected based on

characteristics of a population and the objective of the study. Purposive sampling

is different from convenience sampling and is also known as judgmental,

selective, or subjective sampling.(Crossman,2019)The researchers will used this kind

of technique in conducting a survey research to select and reach our target participant

which is the Teenagers who is using cigarettes in Barangay Katipunan.

Respondents Description

The researchers selected respondents from the teenagers who is using cigarettes in

Barangay Bagong Katipunan. The population is 1,066 and the chosen respondent is

computed of 400(tentative) teenagers
