Ec2 Aluminium Chlorohydrate

Aluminium chlorohydrate is an inorganic polymer used as the active ingredient in many antiperspirants. It works by passing aluminium ions into skin cells near sweat ducts, causing the cells to swell and block the ducts. As a coagulant, aluminium chlorohydrate is used to remove dissolved organic matter and small particles from water and wastewater by causing them to clump together. There is no evidence that the small amount of aluminium absorbed from antiperspirants can cause cancer, despite some claims, as only 0.012% is absorbed and less than would be expected from food consumption.
