H*ll Yeah!

This book isn’t just for lovers of Rick and Morty (or D&D), though it’s definitely for those people. It also
appeals to the masses, to comic readers of all classes and levels. Such a fun read. Zub and Rothfuss are a
great team.

Jonathan says

Enough side twaddle. Back to your main series please sir.

A friend said I had to try it because I loved DnD. I read it for him but I didn't like it. I don't find the
crudeness entertaining. The DnD stuff was ok. I loved seeing things like Matt Mercer in it but I just don't
enjoy it.

Steve Chaput says

Have the admit that I’ve never played D&D so I probably missed some in jokes and references. Still it was
fun seeing the characters in a different type of situation.

Jerry gets to be a hero and Morty might have met a girl. A lot of fun.

Great crossover.

Well done. Great art, witty banter. Rick and Morty plus D&D, enuff said. Highly recommended. Brought
back my own D&D memories. I actually dusted off my copy of The Monster Manual.

Jack Imeshi says

Except for the appearance of Gorge RR Martin, it's quite meh

Never having given comics a shot, I figured this would be a good starting point as I love R&M and have
always been intrigued by D&D. Plus it's written by Patrick Rothfuss who's a respected author of the fantasy
genre, so I was excited to see what this amalgamation had to offer.
I know I don't have much to compare it to since I've barely read any comics/graphic novels, but I definitely
liked this mini-series a lot. It stayed true to the R&M characters to an astonishing degree, and the artwork
was beautiful. The story was great and had some strong emotionally impactful moments, and it ended in a
very satisfying way as well. I know close to nothing about D&D though I've played quite a few rpg games
influenced by it (Baldur's Gate, Planescape, Divinity etc), but from what I could figure, the rules and
mechanics of the game were respected and even put in the spotlight to shine a few times.
It's clear the authors and artists are very passionate about D&D as well as R&M and it was a joy to consume
this beautiful fusion from cover to cover.
I look forward to reading the actual R&M comic next.

Catarina Pimenta says

I love Rick and Morty. I love Dungeons & Dragons. Patrick Rothfuss, from what I know, is a really
appreciated author. So, this comic is just FUN AS HELL. Also, I read it with the voices of the characters in
my head, which was super cool.

Rick says

Oh yeah! Now this is what I've been waiting for. For the most part I haven't been overly impressed with the
Rick and Morty comics. They tend to just miss the mark on adaptation the series to comics, but this one ...
this was the bomb. Solider characterization, fun story, crazy shenanigans. All the fun stuff from the TV show
but with Dungeons & Dragons thrown in.

Václav says

This was fun. A short one, I believe Rothfuss and Zub would have more to say on this topic, but better short
than dull. Well, Morty needs to learn D & D to pursue some love interest, so grandpa Rick comes in help...
Of course in his own egoistic and haughty way, dragging the whole family along to the adventure beyond
imagination. And that's fun. And intense. Maybe too much intense, like trying hard to put every idea, joke,
twist and action on the paper. Anyway, the end is nice and it's relaxing reading packed with references, jokes
and fun all the way.

This is an odd one. The very first half is typically crass and Rick & Morty-ish, but the second feels like
Patrick Rothfuss took over complete control and penned a heartfelt love letter to the transformative power of
D&D. Characters learn and grow—even Rick—which feels rather off-brand. If you got "all the feels" from
Critical Role and The Adventure Zone's later arcs, you'll probably dig it.

Jakub Kvíz says

Warning: If you haven't ever played D&D or any other RPG game you probably won't enjoy this as you
should, even if you're a Rick and Morty fan.

The tropes of Rick and Morty are still there - Morty needs to learn how to play D&D to amaze a girl he's into
and Grandpa Rick just happens to be a hardcore D&D player. To show him the ropes Rick will take Morty
and the rest of the family to a dimension which is like a world of D&D. Somehow Rick gets screwed by the
Gamemaster and ends up as lame gnome bard or something while rest of the family are kickass heroes,
especially Jerry as a wise and charismatic Conjurer. And another crazy adventure can begin!

This is a huge love letter/homage/whatever to D&D. Bunch of tropes, clichés and jokes but it works really
well and the story is entertaining. Art is in line with the show's design and I really liked the vast collection of
alternative covers especially those designed as character sheets and those drawn by Tess Fowler.

T.J. Blackburn says

I read these as individual issues, the first three in one swoop, as they had been piling up on my to read pile,
then had to wait for issue four to drop. Luckily, I only had to wait two weeks from when I started the mini-
series. Though had I read these as they release each month, I bet it would have felt like waiting for the next

season of Rick & Morty to arrive. (Some people will get what I mean. Thanks, Noob Noob.)

If you're a fan of Rick & Morty and Dungeon and Dragons; or a fan of one of the franchises and had been
curious about the other; or maybe totally oblivious of both, I think you'd appreciate this book. I felt that the
creative teams at Oni Press and IDW Publishing worked well together and continued to do justice to their
respective licensed titled. The writing felt authentic. I felt this could have been a Rick & Morty adventure,
and the D&D storyline was respectful of the fans and the game. There were plenty of in-jokes that player and
casual observers would get, and I would venture to say that more than a few of the writers are avid,
inveterate players of the game. I would not be surprise if one or two new players will one day credit this title
for piquing their interest in D&D and starting them on their path to gaming.

All and all, a fun, worthwhile read.
