Once there was a shepherd boy who had to look after a flock of sheep.
One day, he felt bored and decided to play a trick on the villagers. He shouted,
“Help! Wolf! Wolf!”.
The villagers heard his cries and rushed out of the village to help the
shepherd boy. When they reached him, they asked, “Where is the wolf?”
The shepherd boy laughed loudly, “Ha, ha, ha! I fooled you all. I was only
playing a trick on you.”
A few days later, the shepherd boy played the trick again. He cried, “Help!
Help! Wolf! Wolf!”
Again, the villagers rushed up the hill to help him and again they found
that the boy had tricked them. They were very angry with him for being so
naughty.
Then, sometime later, a wolf really went into the field. The wolf attacked
one sheep, and then another and another. The shepherd boy ran towards the
village shouting, “Help! Help! Wolf! Help! Somebody!”
The villagers heard his cries but they laughed because they thought it was
just another trick.
The boy ran to the nearest villager and said, “A wolf is attacking the
sheep. I lied before, but this time it is true!”
Finally, the villagers went to look. It was true. They could see the wolf
running away and many dead sheep lying on the grass.
Moral: Do not seek attention by lying for no one will help you when you
actually need it.

They’re chasing me, they’re chasing, no they must not catch me, I have
enough money now, yes enough for my starving mother and brothers. Please let
me go, let me go home before you imprisoned me. Very well, officers? take me to
your headquarters. Good morning captain! no captain, you are mistaken, I was
once a good girl, just like the rest of you here. Just like any of your daughters. But
time was, when I was reared in slums. But we lived honestly, we lived honestly in
life. My, father, mother, brothers, sisters and I. But then, poverty enters the portals
of our home. My father became jobless, my mother got ill. The small savings that
my mother had kept for our expenses were spent. All for our daily needs and her
needed medicine.
One night, my father went out, telling us that he would come back in a few
minutes with plenty of food and money, but that was the last time I saw him. He
went with another woman. If only I could lay my hands on his neck, I would
wring it without pain until he breaths no more. If you were in my place, you’ll do
it, won’t you Captain? What? you won’t still believe in me? Come and I’ll show
you a dilapidated shanty by a railroad.
Mother, mother I’m home, mother? mother?!. There Captain, see my dead
mother. Captain? there are tears in your eyes? now pack this stolen money and
return it to the owner. What good would this do to my mother now? she’s already
gone! Do you hear me? she’s already gone. Am I to be blamed for the things I
have done?

I.
If I were a voice, a persuasive voice,
That could travel the wide world through,
I would fly on the beams of the morning light,
And speak to men with a gentle might,
And tell them to be true.
I'd fly, I'd fly, o'er land and sea,
Wherever a human heart might be,
Telling a tale, or singing a song,
In praise of the right - in blame of the wrong.
II.
If I were a voice, a consoling voice,
I'd fly on the wings of air,
The homes of Sorrow and Guilt I'd seek,
And calm and truthful words I'd speak
To save them from Despair.
I'd fly, I'd fly, o'er the crowded town,
And drop, like the happy sun-light, down
Into the hearts of suffering men,
And teach them to rejoice again.
III.
If I were a voice, a convincing voice,
I'd travel with the wind,
And whenever I saw the nations torn
By warfare, jealousy, or scorn,
If I were a voice, a convincing voice,
I 'd travel with the wind,
And whenever I saw the nations torn
By warfare, jealousy, or scorn,
Or hatred of their kind,
I'd fly, I'd fly, on the thunder-crash,
And into their blinded bosoms flash;
And, all their evil thoughts subdued,
I'd teach them Christian Brotherhood.
IV.
If I were a voice, a pervading voice,
I'd seek the kings of Earth;
I'd find them alone on their beds at night
And whisper words that should guide them right
Lessons of priceless worth;
I'd fly more swift than the swiftest bird,
And tell them things they never heard
Truths which the ages for aye repeat
Unknown to the statesmen at their feet.

V.
If I were a voice, an immortal voice,
I'd speak in the people's ear;
And whenever they shouted 'Liberty,'
Without deserving to be free,
I'd make their error clear.
I'd fly, I'd fly, on the wings of day,
Rebuking wrong on my world-wide way,
And making all the Earth rejoice-
If I were a voice-an immortal voice.
