Do Not Throw Garbage Sticker Rev. 05

Garbage discharge from ships is regulated by MARPOL Annex V and the Polar Code. Food waste and cargo residues can only be discharged outside of special areas if comminuted and at least 3 or 12 nautical miles from land, depending on the garbage type. Most garbage types, including plastics and operational waste, cannot be discharged anywhere. Violating these rules carries large fines and potential imprisonment. Company records must document proper garbage handling and disposal.
