Circles Basic Questions

The document provides 20 questions about circle geometry concepts such as chords, tangents, radii, arcs, and angles. The questions involve calculating lengths, angles, areas, and ratios using properties of circles, including relationships between radii, chords, tangents, arcs, and angles formed by chords and radii. The questions require applying concepts such as perpendicular bisectors of chords, common tangents between circles, and properties of cyclic quadrilaterals.

Circle and Triangle –BASICS

1) O is the centre of the circle whose radius is 15. AB is a chord. Perpendicular OX is drawn
from O on AB as shown in the figure. If OX= 9, find the length of AB.

2) O is the centre of the circle whose radius is 15. AB is a chord. Perpendicular OX is drawn
from O on AB as shown in the figure.

3) Point P lies outside the circle Q. How many tangents can be drawn from point P to circle Q?

4) Point P lies outside circle O. Two tangents are drawn from P to circle O at A and B. If PA = 12
and radius of the circle = 5, find the length of tangent PB.

5) CA and CH are two common tangents to circles D and E. FG is a transverse common tangent.
Radius of circle D is 8 cm and that of circle E is 16 cm.

Find the length of segment CE (in cm).

6) AC is a tangent D is the centre of circle ∠BED=42.

Find the measurement of ∠EBC in degrees?

7) If m ∠AOB = 140o, where O is centre of the circle, then find m∠AEB.

11) C1 and C2 are two concentric circles with centre O. Radius of C2 is 5 cms. Through a point
A on the larger circle C2, a tangent is drawn to the smaller circle C1 touching it at B and meeting
the larger circle at point C. If AC is 8 cms, then find the radius of the smaller circle C1.
