1. Scope
This procedure will be applied to re-conditioning for Tank no. T-969 of The
Bangchak Petroleum Co., Ltd. at Bangkok.
- Re-erection method for Bottom plate.
2. Method statement
Method for remove and re-erection of bottom plate.
2.1 Bottom plate remove
a. Mark reference line 100mm form weld seam of annular to bottom for cutting
annular plate.
b. Cut-off bottom plate to annular plate by gas cutting and grinding as sketch.

c. Cut-off bottom plate size around 3m x 3m for easy to load out.


d. Area of column shall be use temporary support for lift up column before
removed bottom plate and install new bottom plate.
e. All temporary support attach to shell plate shall be tack-weld only
f. Lift-up the bottom shell plate with annular plate by hydraulic jack 8 point and
8 POINT
insert temporary support under shell plate for supported.
g. Remove scrap of bottom plate to outside by roller conveyer.

2.2 Bottom plate re-erection


a. New plates to be load in dike by mobile crane and move to inside tank same item
2.1(f).
b. Erection bottom plate shall be start from center of tank and area of roof column
used temporary support for lift up column and insert bottom plate with reinforce
plate on position.
c. After first bottom plate shall be lay on center tank and extend to next.

d. Next bottom plate shall be lift-up by lifting scaffolding and move to position.
e. Fit-up each plate over lap follow drawing and tack weld.
f. Mark the circumference line of shell plate and reference line 100 mm. from
circumference line. Flush grinding the joint of annular plate to mark level for
shell plate and length around 60 mm.
g. After complete weld of bottom plate shall be fit-up annular to bottom plate and
shell to annular plate.

2.3 Annular and Bottom plate welding


2.3.1 The sequence shall be follow
a. Short seam between each plate.
b. Long seam between each plate shall be weld one seam and ship one seam.
c. Circumference between annular plate and bottom plate.

d. Area under column shall be welding is passable and then insert reinforce plate
under column.

2.3.2 The fillet joint shall be welding by SMAW or FCAW process.

Note: before welding, strong back must be apply for deforming protection.

3. All temporary support to be removes after completed
