THE SPARTAN LEGACY

Forever immortalized in the blockbuster hit, 300,
the Spartans are recognized as one of historys most fearsome warriors.
Their awe-inspiring stand at the Battle of Thermopylae surely remains one of the
greatest clashes of all time.
Let us recreate the setting here. The time is 480 BC and Ancient Greece is divided
into three city-states and races,
the Spartans (known for their complete focus on military training and physical
prowess), the Athenians (known for their commitment to the arts, learning, and
philosophy),
and lastly, the Thespians (known for their worship of love and the muses).

To keep things short, the Persian King Xerxes was dead set on conquering all of
Ancient Greece;
which he believed would be an easy feat considering his army greatly outnumbered
that of Greeces. The leader of the Spartans,
King Leonidas, addressed the Ancient Greek council to gather and build an army to
combat the Persians but his efforts were shot down by the council elders.
As a result, King Leonidas declared a full on war against the Persian Empire and
gathered 300 of his greatest soldiers to intercept the Persians at a small mountain
past too narrow for Xerxes army this is where the Battle of Thermopylae took
place.

Leonidas

Not only was King Leonidas a physical presence but he also stood as a knowledgeable
and clever leader.
Because the passageway was so narrow, it served as a bottleneck only allowing
hundreds of Persian warriors through
at a time (rather than millions), to meet their death at the hands of the Spartans.
For three full days, the Spartans fought the Persians non-stop,
slaying millions of their warriors and only fell short when a local serf betrayed
the 300 Spartans, by revealing an unknown shortcut through the mountain
pass that would allow the Persians to flank the defending Spartans.

So I know you must be thinking, how did 300 Spartans fight for three straight days
against an army of colossal size? The Spartans committed their
entire lives to training right and EATING right. As a result, they built bodies
worthy of the heavens themselves. Todays article will take a deeper
look into what the Spartans would eat to build a lean, rock-hard, and ultra-
chiseled body worthy of battle.

Jeff Seid GladiatorTHE 300 DIET

To build a body like a Spartan, one must eat like a Spartan. Lets take a look at
what it takes to build a ripped and shredded
physique. To start, you must drop your body fat levels to below 10% to reveal all
of your hard earned muscle. While this diet takes
on an extreme approach, you must remember, that the Spartans embraced the most
extreme training methods to achieve their tremendous levels of success.
That is why I urge you to follow this diet for two weeks at a time, and then give
yourself a one week break (maintenance mode) and continue following this protocol
until you reach your desired level of leanness.

Heres how one becomes shredded like a Spartan!

Unleash your inner-carnivore
Eat great deals of lean protein (aim for ATLEAST 1 gram of protein per pound of
current body weight on rest days and 1.5 grams per pound of current body weight on
training days).
Good sources of lean protein include: poultry (chicken & turkey breasts/cutlets),
fish (preferably different types of white fish), egg-whites, egg whites, and low-
fat/fat-free dairy
(cottage cheese, milk, cheeses).
Keep your green vegetable intake high.
Drink water. A whole LOT of water.
Other drink options include black coffee (many health benefits), diet teas, and
diet sodas.
Do not eat 3-4 hours before (fasted training) working out and wait at least 1 hour
after working out to eat (your growth hormone levels are elevated after a workout).
Aim to eat 7-8 calories per pound of target body weight.
Supplement daily with a multivitamin and 6 grams of Omega-3 fish oils.
So there you have it A rapid fat loss diet that will transform your body into that
of a Spartan. I recommend that you already have a solid base of muscle before
taking on an extreme diet such as this one. Why? Because you wont end up looking
like a ripped and shredded Spartan, you will end up looking skinny and weak.
So heres to building a body worthy of joining Leonidas legions, my friends.
Cheers!
