I came across your advertisement in the Marine Times regarding the availability of a vacant job post for
a Deck Cadet. I am writing this letter to express my interest in the current vacancy you have. I want to
apply in this position as I have already completed my Three (3) year course in Marine Transportation and
I also have my strengths and skills that would put me ahead of the other applicants.

I have completed my three-year academic course in the University of Cebu, where I studied Bachelor of
Science in Marine Transportation and graduated with a good class standing. During my college years in
the said university, I was thoroughly trained and my skills were honed through the extensive academic
and practical examinations as a preparation for the real-life problem-solving situations that I may
encounter while working onboard a ship. In addition, I believe that with my ability to adjust in a diverse
working team, leadership skills from my college years, and outstanding health record, I would be a
strong asset to your prestigious company.

In other fields other than Marine Industry, I was equipped with the necessary knowledge and skills that
are essential in helping achieve the company’s mission, which is to enable business partners to achieve
their objectives through applied knowledge, experience and innovation. I can offer an employer my
respect, responsibility, and commitment. I also have good communication skills, ability to work under
pressure and willing to work under extreme weather conditions which I know can help in achieving the
goal of customer satisfaction and quality service.
