MODIFICATION INSTRUCTION X32

Project : X32 Fascia Replacement

Date Codes : May2012 thru July2012

Materials : Standard workshop equipment

Components Required : Replacement Fascia

Changing The Front Fascia


When changing the front fascia, it is necessary to completely open the unit and remove
all the attached items. Refer to the X32 Exploded Drawing pages 92-93 at the bottom of
this document.

Two people are recommended for this.

Changing the Front Panel

Power down the unit and disconnect any other devices (loudspeakers, compressors,
etc).

Remove the side panels (ITEM 6) via the 5 screws per side.

Remove the upper-back screws (ITEM 1) via 8 screws

Remove the upper screws from the side chassis panels (ITEM 2) via 5 screws per
side.

CAREFULLY peel off the rubber padding from the cell phone holder pad (ITEM 7).

Remove the cell phone holder by unscrewing the three screws (ITEM 3).

Unscrew the talkback XLR plate via 4 screws.

Remove 25 fader caps and the 3 knobs from the Monitor / Talkback section.

Remove the front bottom screws via 8 screws.

Remove the bottom screw by the middle foot bracket.

CAREFULLY pull and rotate the upper panel.

*NOTE: The lengths of the cabling will prevent the console from being
clam-shelled.

With the upper panel at a 90 degree angle, cut the Tie-wraps and unplug the
power cables that are preventing full rotation.

Unscrew the ferrite coil cover from LCD. Unseat the LCD ribbon cable via the
connector.

At this point, the upper and lower sections should be able to lay back to back.

Remove the front arm rest via 8 screws.

Remove the screws from each PCB attached to the upper panel, including the
fader PCBs, LCD, and fader assembly. To prevent leaving fingerprints on the
plastic screens, it is recommended that gloves be worn.

Once the PCBs are removed from the front panel, remove the standoff brackets
(ITEM 15) via two nuts.

Swap the front panel and reassemble. Test all functions.
