Session 7A GAD Core Values and Principles


Duration
of Session 1 hour
Key The trained K to 12 teachers are expected to be creative and innovative
Understandings educators whose main concern is improving learners’ achievement; hence,
to be developed seeking ways to create a rigorous, relevant, and engaging curriculum in
line with the Gender and Development (GAD) Principles.
 GAD (Gender and Development) focuses on the socially
constructed basis of differences between men and women and
emphasizes the need to challenge existing roles and relations.
 GAD Core Values are shared parenting, shared home
management and shared decision making.
 GAD Principles include gender equality, gender equity, gender
sensitivity, non-discrimination and human rights provision.
Learning At the end of the session, participants are expected to:
Objectives
1. discuss the significance of GAD principles in line with the
implementation of the K to 12 curriculum;
2. integrate GAD core values and principles in the teaching-
learning process; and
3. display willingness in integrating GAD core values and principles
in the preparation of the iC CEBU lesson exemplar

Introductory
Activity Game: iC Like It!
( 5 mins ) SAY:
1. Read carefully the statement flashed on screen.
2. Thumbs up if it is gender-sensitive and thumbs down if it is gender-
biased.
