Dear Sir,
We would like to draw your kind attention to letter no 23/2016 dated 18 -10 2016 with regard to inviting
of proposal for construction of Hostel in LEC.
As there is a great pressure for the college to establish a Hostel for boys and girls who come to study
here from the remote areas of Nepal. As a result the students have to stay in rented houses outside the
college premises.
Therefore, it is submitted for kind perusal and consideration of the proposal for construction of a Hostel.
The detail information about the project can be obtained along with this letter. The time frame for the
construction is one year from the date of agreement.
Thank you.

Executive Summary
The purpose of this proposal is to provide the information about the need to establish/construct
a hostel in LEC. With the help of some research, I have found that the students from distant
place and studying here are facing this problem. This matter can be addressed easily with little
initiation of the college administration. So, I came to the conclusion that setting up a college
hostels for boys and girls would be beneficial to students who are admitted for their higher
education.

1. Introduction:
LEC is one of the most renown and reputed Engineering colleges in Rupandehi district, located
at Bhalwari, Tilottama Municipality. Since its establishment in 2000, it has been providing
quality education in the Engineering studies to its students. The college has been able to
establish itself as the pioneer college in the field of education and producing a large number of
engineers needed for the development of the nation.
LEC has a large number of students coming to study from distant places and most of them have
been living /residing in a rented houses far from the college premises. The cost of living is very
high and sometimes the students are unable to manage for their expenditure. Also, they have
not been able to use the resources like library, sports ground and free Wi-Fi of the college
properly.
In order to help the needy students, a hostel must be constructed in the college premises.
Residential accommodations are essential in the places where students live at great distance
from the institution.
2. Need Analysis:
Students are facing problems to find cheap and affordable rented houses. So, it will be a help to
students if there is a hostel in the college. The following problems will be solved to a greater
extent. The proposed hostel will provide the following:
To provide hostel facility for the students who need accommodation in the college.
4. Methodology:
Different plans should be made in order to construct a hostel. The knowledge about necessary
requirements for hostel construction such as - site for the hostel, necessary funds, construction
materials, manpower, and others requirements.
5. Budget:
In order to complete the project, budget is necessary. This table shows a tentative budget for
construction of the proposed hostel.
If we plan to accommodate two students in each room with a 100 square foot area, the total area
required for bedrooms will be 1200 square feet in each hostel. About another 50% of the area (600 sq.
feet) would be needed for facilities such as a kitchen, dining room, toilets, showers, walkways, study
rooms, etc. This makes a total building area 1800 square feet for each hostel, or 3600 square feet for
both. Since these hostels are going to be built using local materials as much as possible, the construction
rate should not be more than $17 (NRs. 1200) per square foot.
6. Output:
The construction of hostels will facilitate large number of students who come here for higher
studies. The hostel accommodation will help them to study well and enable them to use college
resources as far as possible. It will eventually bring good results.
7. Conclusion:
The main purpose of this proposal is to show the need and requirement of a Hostel in LEC. It is
believed that this project will benefit the students. I am hopeful that this proposal will be
accepted and proved fruitful for college's development and progress.
