Training Report EN18387872
This industrial training report consist of three chapters that are introduction, training experience
and conclusion. This document is submitted to satisfy the requirements of BSc Engineering
(Hons) Civil Engineering degree offered by The Faculty of Engineering of Sri Lanka Institute
of Information technology. I got an opportunity to complete my 12 weeks at China Harbor
Engineering Company Limited (CHEC) and China Geo Engineering Corporation (CGC) Joint
Venture. The Project is known as ADB Assisted Greater Colombo Water & Waste Water
Management Improvement Programme - Project III (System Rehabilitation for NRW
Reduction in West of Colombo City). Industrial training is an important phase of a civil
engineering student life. A well planned, properly executed and evaluated industrial training
helps a lot in developing a professional attitude. As civil engineering undergraduate student it
was good opportunity to apply theoretical knowledge gained during the university academic
program into real world industrial based applications. I able to learn about the civil construction
activities, document related works as well as material testing during our training programme.
This civil construction activities include the sections such as pipe laying, backfilling, different
types of pipes, road permanent and tempory reinstatement. Management is a one key point
when we working at civil engineering sites. Civil engineering projects are not only faced with
technological problems but also management problems. Resource management, labor
management, and time management are also very important when we worked at sites.
