MICROSOFT DYNAMICS SL 2015 INSTALLATION

1. Uninstall Microsoft Dynamics SL 2011 FP1 Client and Microsoft Dynamics SL 2011 FP1
a. Start Menu > Control Panel > Uninstall a Program

b. Uninstall Microsoft Dynamics SL 2011 FP1 Client


c. Uninstall Microsoft Dynamics SL 2011 FP1

2. Connect the local machine to Hyper V image to copy files to the image

Option 1 - Remote Desktop Connection

One way is to use Remote Desktop Connection. This will give the machine access to the local drives.
a. Run Remote Desktop Connection

b. Enter DYNAMICS01
c. Click the Connect button
d. Connect as Contoso\SLADMIN
e. RDC allows for the sharing of local resources, like local drives.

Option 2, using Hyper V without Remote Desktop Connection

a. Identify the IP address of the Hyper V image


b. Start Menu > Run
c. Type cmd
d. Type ipconfig
e. Identify the IP address
(look for the one with the subnet and default gateway values)
f. On the host machine, click on Run and type in the IP address
\\IPADDRESS\c$
3. Copy files to Hyper V image
a. Create a directory on the Hyper V image called Install , example C:\INSTALL
b. Copy the Microsoft Dynamics SL 2015 installation files to the install directory
c. Copy the Microsoft Dynamics SL 2015 Web Apps installation files to the install directory

4. Install Microsoft Dynamics SL 2015


a. Located the SETUP.EXE file in the Microsoft Dynamics SL 2015 installation directory

b. Click on the Microsoft Dynamics SL installation link


c. Go through the installation process, choosing BRL Advanced Management

5. Update the SL 2011 SP2 database to Microsoft Dynamics SL 2015


a. Start Menu > Administrative Tools > Microsoft Dynamics SL Database Maintenance
b. Click on the Connect button

c. Under System Database Name choose CONTOSOSYSTEM


d. Under Databases select all three (ContosoEngApp, ContosoGCApp, ContosoUsApp)
e. Under Update Scenarios choose 6.5x, 7.x, 2011.x to SL 2015
f. Click on the Update Database button
Ignore any issues found during the upgrade.

6. Log into Microsoft Dynamics SL (CBS Company) as SLADMIN


7. Enter unlocking keys
a. SL Menu > Administration > Registration screen
b. Delete the current Module information
c. Copy in the new module information
d. Save and close the screen
8. Import CSV files
a. SL Menu > Administration > Database Update

b. Select all Application Databases


c. Click on the Browse for Files button

d. Select the Messages.msg and pvrec.csv files


e. Click on Begin Processing button

INSTALLATION OF MICROSOFT DYNAMICS SL 2015 IS COMPLETED


MICROSOFT DYNAMICS SL WEB APPS INSTALLATION

1. Browse to the Microsoft Dynamics SL Web Apps installation directory

2. Run the Web Services installation file: MicrosoftDynamicsSLWebServices.exe

a. Site Name: WebServices2015


b. Physical File Location:
i. Click the browse button
ii. Navigate to the c:\inetpub\wwwroot directory
iii. Click on the Make Directory button
iv. Type in the name WebServices2015
v. Select the newly created directory
vi. Click Ok
c. Port Number: Leave the default value
d. Certificate: Choose the WSCert option
e. TCP Port: Leave the default value and make a note of it __________ (usually 808)
f. Click the Next button
g. Application Pool Name: WebServices2015 (or any unique name that has not bee used)
h. Identity: contoso\SLAdmin
i. Password: pass@word1
j. Confirm Password: pass@word1
k. Click the Proceed button

l. Server Name: DYNAMICS01


m. System Database: CONTOSOSYSTEM
n. Click the Next button

o. Click on the Verify button


p. Click on the Hyperlink to open the link in Internet Explorer.
(We will need the URL with the Web Apps installation)
q. Leave the installation screen to open
3. Install Open XML SDK 2.5 for Microsoft Office
a. The following link was available on 10/2014

b. Click on the Download button

c. Select the OpenXMLSDKV25.msi file and then click the Next button

d. Choose Run to install

e. Click on the Next button and agree to any terms until it completes the installation
f. Note: If you don’t install this file, you will receive the following error if you try to install Web Apps
4. Run the Web Apps installation file: MicrosoftDynamicsSLWebApps.exe

a. Click on the Accept button

b. Site Name: WebApps2015


c. Physical File Location:
i. Click the browse button
ii. Navigate to the c:\inetpub\wwwroot directory
iii. Click on the Make Directory button
iv. Type in the name WebApps2015
v. Select the newly created directory
vi. Click Ok
d. Port Number: Leave the default value
e. Certificate: Select the WACert
f. Click the Next button

g. Application Pool Name: WebApps2015


h. Identity: contoso\sladmin
i. Password: pass@word1
j. Confirm Password: pass@word1
k. Click the Proceed button

l. Web Service Location: Enter the Web Service location up to the port number.
In this example: https://dynamics01.contoso.com:32860
m. TCP Port Number: 808 Use the same TCP Port Number as noted in Web Services
n. Optionally:
i. Uncheck Use Default Protocols
ii. Scroll down to Quick Query and change the value to HTTPS
o. Click the Proceed button

p. Click the Verify button


q. Click the hyper link
5. Run the WebApps2.01_App.sql file against the three application databases (ContosoEngApp,
ContosoGCApp, ContosoUsApp)
a. Double click on the WebApps2.01_App.sql file

b. This will open the Microsoft SQL Server Maintenance Studio


c. Click on the Connect button

d.
e. Select the ContosoEngApp database
f. Click on the Execute button
g. Repeat the same steps for the ContosoGCApp & ContosoUSAPP databases

6. Run the WebApps2.01_Sys.sql file against the system database (ContosoSystem)


a. Double click on the WebApps2.01_Sys.sql file
b. It will open up in the Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio
c. Select the CONTOSOSYSTEM database
d. Click on the Execute button
e. Exit Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio
7. Update Microsoft Dynamics SL settings for Web Apps
a. Log into Microsoft Dynamics SL’s CBS company as SLADMIN
b. Select the CBS company
c. Set the Access Rights:
i. SL Menu > Administration > Access Rights Maintenance

ii. Select the Group WebApps


iii. Click on the All Companies option
iv. Click the Preload button

v. Scroll down and select the Web Apps(MD) option


vi. Click the OK button
vii. Give full access rights to all entries

viii. Click on the Web Service tab


ix. Give full access rights to all Web Services
8. Update the SL Report Server with the latest reports
a. Start Menu > Administrative Tools > Microsoft Dynamics SL Report Server Configuration

b. The SSRS report serve is already setup, so we need to deploy the reports over the current
installation.

c. Click Next
d. Click Deploy

e. Click Next

f. Select the check boxes next to all three databases


g. Click the Deploy button

h. Click Yes every time you are prompted to overwrite the existing Environment.
