The Human Resource department of your chosen organisation is going through a restructuring to
help it respond to new challenges in technology, globalisation and employment legislation. The
Human Resources (HR) department will be restructured based on the findings of your review report,
which you have been asked to complete. Youhave therefore been asked to review the effectiveness
of the HR function within this chosen organisation and research the role and scope of HRM by
reviewing and assessing the main HR functions within the organisation.

Your review report should cover the following:

1. An overview of the organisation.


2. An explanation on the purpose of the HR function and the key roles and responsibilities of the
HR function.(LO1, p1)
3. Evaluate internal and external recruitment processes in the organisation.(LO1,p2)
4. Recommendation of two effective selection methods which will increase the employee retention
rate.(LO 1, p1)
5. The benefits of learning, development and training to both the employee and employer.
(LO2,p3)
6. Recommend a reward system to increase productivity.

GUIDENCE ON COMPLETION OF ASSIGNMENT PART 1

SECTIONA

1. The first part of your report (overview of the organisation) should contain the problems or
issues that triggered the review and restructuring of the organisation.
2. You are also required to identify and explain four purposes and scope of Human Resource
Management in terms of resourcing an organisation with talent and skills appropriate to your
chosen organisation. (p1)
3. Internal and external recruitment processes are very important parts of the marketing function.
List and explain three advantages and disadvantages of each. (p2)
4. As part of your research, you are required to identify and evaluate two benefits of learning and
development for both the employee and your chosen organisation.(p4)

SECTION B MERIT (LO 1 AND LO2)


To achieve a merit, you need to complete all the pass criteria (section A above) as well as the following
requirements:

1. Assess how the functions of HRM can provide talent and skills appropriate to fulfil business
objectives
2. Evaluate the strengths and weaknesses of different approaches to recruitment and selection
3. Assess the different research methods used in HRM practices, providing specific examples to
support evaluation within an organisational context

SECTION C DISTICTION (LO1 and LO2)


To achieve a distinction, you need to complete all the pass and merit criteria (section A and B above) as
well as the tasks below:

1. Critically evaluate the strengths and weaknesses of different approaches to recruitment and
selection, supported by specific examples
2. Critically evaluate HRM practices and application within an organisational context, using a
range of specific examples

The first part of your assignment should be submitted as a report which should not be more than
2000 words. The report should have the following sections:

1. Introduction
2. An explanation on the purpose of the HR function and reward systems
3. Analysis of flexible work practices
4. Analysis of internal and external factors that affect HR/organisation objectives
5. Conclusions

As part of the restructuring process, you have been asked to organise a forum where you are to introduce
the new procedures that you have designed for the company as well as provide analysis of relevant laws or
legislation that affect the Human Resource department/company.

Finally, you need to illustrate withexamples of procedures/documentsof an HR hiring process and this
should be achieved by:

1. The design of a job specification for one of agiven positions in the organisation.
2. A personal CV tailored for a position they desire from their chosen organisation.
3. Documentation of preparatory notes for interviews.
4. A job offer letter to the selected candidate.

You are also required to look at the impact of the following on Human Resource department practices.
These include:

1. Employee relations
2. Equality Act 2010
3. GDPR
4. Health and Safety issues

GUIDENCE ON COMPLATING THE ASSIGNMENT

SECTION A PASS (LO3 AND LO4)

1. You are required to design three documents taking into consideration the relevant legislation to
ensure that the HR department is compliant.
2. In analysing the relevance of employee relations, you are expected to identify and explain four
strategies that you believe can be used to improve the relationship between employers and
employees.
3. Describe the importance of the Equality Law 2010 and the limitations of this legislation in relations
to the role of HR department.
4. The company would like to be advised on the advantages and disadvantages of GDPR.
5. Review the health and safety issues that face HR in relation to Health and Safety, and show three
ways they could be dealt with.

SECTION B MERIT (LO 3 AND LO4)

To achieve a merit, you need to complete all the pass criteria (section A above) as well as the following
requirements:

1. Evaluate the key aspects of employee relations management and employment legislation that affect
HRM decision-making in an organisational context
2. Provide a rationale for the application of specific HRM practices in a work-related context

SECTION C DISTICTION (LO3 and LO4)

To achieve a distinction, you need to complete all the pass and merit criteria (section A and B above) as
well as the task below:

1. Critically evaluate employee relations and the application of HRM practices that inform and
influence decision-making in an organisational context

Assignment Part 2 Covers:LO 3:(P5, P6, M4, D3) and (P7, M5, D3)

Submission format: Assignment Part 2(LO3 & LO4)

Assignment Part 2 should be presented as a power point. You will be allowed 20 minutes to present to your
classmates and 10 minutes to ask questions. There is no requirement for word count. However, you are
required to disclose all your sources on the reference list.

Your presentations should have the following sections:

1. An example of an HR hiring process and required documents/documents


2. The relevance of Employee relations
3. The impact of Equality Act 2010
4. The Importance of GDPR and challenges
5. Conclusions

GENERAL GUIDENCE
1. If you are not able to complete your coursework on time due to extenuating circumstances, the
