or appearance of the offspring, accept it because abnormal genes cannot be alter anymore. Prescription
only lessen the severe effect but not cured.

C. Some plants have manipulated its own genetic information, with the help of human intelligence, to adapt
to several environments.
D. Some plants are genetically manipulated intended to make profits, plants can resist to climate change,
and at the same time it is the answer to surpass hunger to some developing countries.
29. Mutations cannot be prevented due to different lifestyles of people. As a grade 10 student you have already an idea

and aids in growth and development of an embryo inside the womb of a pregnant person. What do you think will
happen to the embryo inside the womb if during the transcription of DNA and RNA, the codons which directs the
production of protein where unintentionally and incorrectly done by the system of the embryo?
A. The embryo survives until it became an organism.
B. The embryo will disappear because it will not be develop well.
C. A normal embryo will be the result, since it’s just a minor mistake of the system.
D. A normal embryo will grow but mutations will be noticeable when it becomes an adult.
31. What does chromosomal disorder mean?
A. Chromosomal disorder is the result of the mutations of DNA and RNA.
B. Chromosomal disorder is affected chromosome due to cellular distortion during apoptosis.
C. Chromosomal disorder is a case in which a significant sequence has gone wrong during meiosis.
D. Chromosomal disorder is the result of abnormal process in which the DNA is replicated in the
cytoplasm.
32. Physical characteristic distortions and mental retardation are some of the symptoms shown to an individual who has
chromosomal abnormalities. What factors should be change causing these abnormalities in the chromosome?
A. Medicines and technology.
B. Different lifestyles of a certain organism.
C. In general, it is genetically acquired from family generations.
D. It has been from evolution where unique genes and structures are designed to adapt to the environment.
E. A, B and C only
32. Which of the following result of chromosomal disorder is where the condition of a person is named after the sound
of a high-pitched cats cry?
A. Down’s syndrome C. Edwards syndrome
B. Cri-du-chat syndrome D. Jacobs syndrome
33. Which of the following syndrome describes as the condition where a female sexual characteristics are present but
underdevelop, they have a webbed neck just like a cobra snake?
A. Turner’s syndrome C. Down’s syndrome
B. Klinefelter’s syndrome D. Edwards syndrome
34. What do you call of this most common syndrome caused by an extra copy of chromosome 21, with features like
slanting eyes and mild to moderate mental retardation?
A. Klinefelter’s syndrome
B. Cri-du-chat syndrome
C. Down’s syndrome
D. Jacobs syndorme
For items 35 and 36 ONLY, read the statements properly. Identify which statement makes the sentence incorrect and
write the letter and the phrase of your choice. If you think that the sentence is correct write E. TRUE in your

A. Certain group of birds eating different kinds of food.
B. Dying out of dinosaurs during Cretaceous period.
C. The finches in Galapagos with different beaks.
D. A child learning to walk on his own.
42.
43.
44.
45. Which of the following statements DOES NOT describe evolution?
A. Evolution is continuous C. The world is stable and unchanging
B. Evolution refers to change D. If there is mutation, there is evolution.
46.
47.
48. Which of the following statements best explain the Theory of natural Selection?
A. In nature, the organisms with desirable characteristics may survive while those with weaker traits are
not.
B. Organs that are not used may disappear while organs that are constantly used may develop.
C. Organisms develop desirable structures to survive in a given environment.
D. Acquired characteristics of parents can be passed on to offsprings.
49. Which of the following statement explains Lamarck’s Theory of Use and Disuse?
A. Body structures develop because they are used extensively.
B. Body structures develop because they are not in use.
C. Body structures develop because of competition.
D. Body structures develop because of mutation.
50. Which of the following statements support the idea that extinction is necessary?
A. To give way for other organism to develop.
B. To let other organism evolve and progress.
C. To know who is the fittest.
D. All of the above.
51. Based on the evidence of evolution, why did organisms need to change and adapt to its environment?
A. Organisms need to change and adapt in order to become the most aggressive and have the advance
defence mechanism than the other organism.
B. Organisms need to change and adapt in order to become the most dominant organism.
C. Organisms need to change and adapt just to survive the severe and dangerous environment.
D. Organisms need to change and adapt to compete for food and shelter.
52. Comparative anatomy studies certain organisms that indicate similarities in anatomical features, while Embryonic
developments among groups of organisms reveals similarities that suggest common ancestry. Would this
information be useful if you are going to study evolution?
A. Yes, because it will help me identify the origin of every each organism alive before and today.
B. Yes, because it has revealed the truth behind how the formation of the Planet Earth started.
C. Yes, in some certain situations like how did the animals buried by lava flow.
D. Yes, but theories might show conspiracy so it could be a waste of time.
53. According to Darwin’s Theory of Natural Selection, organisms which are well adapted to the environment most
likely to survive than those organisms which are less adapted. Here in the Philippines, we do care of our localized
animals but some animals are nearly endangered. What will be the best solution to prevent the total extinction of the
species living in our country?
A. Arrest illegal hunters and do not introduce new species in a certain herd or group of species.
B. Wild animals should be in the wild. Let these species live their lives.
C. Do not consume or sell animals protected by the government.
D. All of the above
54. Based on Lamarck’s theory organisms’ change in response to their environment and with this, the change may
acquire by their offspring. If a lady keeps on using whitening soups and taking supplements like glutathione to
become as white as Snow-white, do you think her child can inherit the color of her whiter skin?
A. Yes, because whitening soup whitens the skin and with help of supplement, the effect will increase to a
hundred percent chance that my child will become as white as the mother.
B. Maybe, there could be chances that the child will have a whiter skin as it mother.
C. No, the skin color has been coded to the genetic material of an organism, artificial whitening solution
cannot be acquire by the offspring.
