DESIGN CALCULATIONS :

1. DESIGN OF SIDE WALL :


The wall is designed considering three edges fixed and top edge free.
The coefficients (bending moment & hoop tension) considered for the design
are taken from the tables of IS3370 (Part IV), published by `Concrete
Association of India'.

Design Liquid depth = a = 1.50 m


Width of wall = b = 1.50 m
Wall thickness assumed = t = 150 mm
b/a = 1.0

Bending Moment - [coeff. as per tables of IS 3370 (PART IV), TABLE III]
Coefficient for Bending Moment, Mx = k1 = 0.035 @ y = 0
Coefficient for Bending Moment, My = k2 = 0.029 @ y = b/2
Maximum Vertical Bending Moment,
BMmax = k1 x 10 x a3 = 1.18 kNm
Maximum Horizontal Bending Moment,
BMmax = k1 x 10 x a3 = 0.98 kNm

Check for thickness -


Total thk reqd. = BMmax x 106 = 62.03 mm
(Uncracked section) 0.307 x 1000 OK

Area of Reinforcement -
Astreqd = BMmax = 76.09 mm2

1. Self weight of slab = 25 x t = 3.75 kN/m2
2. Load of water = 15.00 kN/m2
Total dead load = 18.75 kN/m2

Bending Moments - (Refer IS 456:2000, Table 26, Case 3)


Along Long/Short span :
-ve BM at support = 0.037 x w1 x lx2 = 1.56 kNm
+ve BM at midspan = 0.028 x w1 x lx 2
= 1.01 kNm

Design BM = Mmax = 1.56 kNm

Thk. reqd. for = Mmax x 106 = 71.28 mm

Load from slab = w x lx = 9.375 kN/m

Self weight of beam = 25 x b x d = 5.625 kN/m

Total load on beam = 15 kN/m

Maximum moment = w x l2 = 4.219 kN-m

As per clause 29.2 of IS 456,


For continuous Beam,
Ratio L/D = 1.00
Lever arm, Z = 0.2 x ( L + 1.5 D ) = 750 mm

Reinforcement at bottom = M x 106 = 37.50 mm2

As per clause 32.5 of IS 456;

l = 0.23 m
Length of column = 3.89 m

Reaction from beam = wxl = 0.938 kN

5. DESIGN OF RAFT FOUNDATION:

Projection beyond column = l = 260 mm


Width of base slab = 0.75 m
Length of base slab = 1.80 m
Assumed thickness of base slab = 250 mm
Width of raft beam = 230 mm
Depth of raft beam = 350 mm
Loading -

Area of Footing = 1.35 m2


Thickness of footing = 0.25 m
Self weight of footing = 8.44 kN
Load from column = 7.02 kN
Self weight raft beam = 2.70 kN
