FAQ 690p Flash Firmware
FAQ 690p Flash Firmware
Requirements
A PC with the software DSELite installed and the Serial comms cable CM351909 (9-pin to RJ11).
Procedure
NOTE: Please read this application note complete, prior to starting this procedure.
1. On the 690+ Drive remove, the 6901 MMI OP Station Keypad.
2. Connect the comms cable to the MMI Keypad Port where the MMI was just removed.
3. It would be prudent to ensure there is a recent copy of the drive configuration. Upgrading the drive firmware
should leave the drive configuration intact thus it should not have to be re installed. But it is always best to have
a copy of the drive configuration, in case there is a problem.
4. Ensure the drive is not in the Run mode.
Warning!
Do not remove the 690+ Drive power or pc power at any time during the upgrade process. Verify the comms cable connections are seated
during the entire upgrade process. If this procedure is not followed, the drive may get into an unrecoverable and inoperable state.
5. Launch DSELite and establish communication with the drive by doing a Command / Refresh Partial. Look at the
Scratchpad, at the bottom of DSELite. It should say something like: 690 version 5.6 (NOT running)
Upon certain occasions the factory may determine it is necessary to send firmware to be installed. The following
instructions will assist with the location of the firmware directory.
1. Launch Windows Explorer, go to “SSD_Link” directory. Create new folder named Firmware.
2. Copy or move the firmware file into this new folder. Note the file name may end with a ‘.bin’ extension.
3. Once the firmware is copied into the new folder one can proceed with the normal firmware installation
procedure. Released firmware for the drives is embedded in the DSELite.
