Chapter III

This chapter outlines the methodology used in the study. It will use a quantitative descriptive research design to understand the relationship between educational resources and student learning outcomes at Tandoc National High School. 120 student respondents will be surveyed using a structured questionnaire. Statistical analysis including Pearson's chi-square test in SPSS will be used to analyze the data and understand the correlation between facilities and student performance.

Chapter III

Methodology

This chapter of the research deals with the research methodology of the

study, including the research design, setting, population, statistical tool, sample

and data-collection instruments. It also includes the presentation of the

researcher’s strategy and the sources of data that contains the respondents for

further understanding.

Research design

The researchers of the study will use quantitative research method to be

able to gather data and to obtain the intended answers to the research question

guiding the study about the effectiveness of educational resources on learning

outcomes of students in Tandoc National High School. This study used a

quantitative descriptive design to identify, analyze, and describe the correlation

between the students learning outcomes and educational resources of Tandoc

National High School.

Quantitative research methods describe and measure the level of

occurrences on the basis of numbers and calculations. Quantitative research can

be described as ‘entailing the collection of numerical data and exhibiting the view

of relationship between theory and research as deductive, a predilection for

natural science approach, and as having an objectivist conception of social

reality’. In other words, quantitative studies mainly examine relationships

between numerically measured variables with the application of statistical

techniques.

Quantitative data collection methods are based on convenience sampling

and structured data collection instruments, Findings of quantitative studies are

usually easy to present, summarize, compare, and generalize.

Respondent of the Study

The subjects of the study are the students in Tandoc National High School

that engage the Educational Resources on Learning Outcomes of the Student in

Tandoc National High School as well teachers for deeper information. So, in

terms of response to the needs of all of these students, hundred twenty students

(120) as the respondents ,it is composed of twenty (20) respondents by grade

level from grade 7 to grade 12 students who are currently studying in Tandoc

National High School. Random selection will be applied in every strand like

STEM, GAS, and TVL to meet the required 20 respondents in Grade 12. The

chosen respondents needed in the research will be divided into 10 males and 10

females to avoid the bias between the opposite gender.

Data Gathering Instrument

Before conducting the distribution of questionnaire and research survey,

researchers provide a letter of approval which is given to the research adviser,

principal, and the target respondents to ask for their permission to start the study

in the campus. In order to collect the data needed in the study, the researchers

used various data collection techniques to come up into the desired results and

findings.

Structured questionnaire is the primary instrument use in gathering the

data in the study. The survey questionnaire is consist of fixed questions about

the study and must be filled up by the respondents by putting a check on the box

provided in every item. Closed ended questions are used and consumed in the

survey questionnaire. Questions are utilized, verified, and further checked by the

researcher to avoid misinterpretations, prevent or minimize bias, and have the

accurate data findings for the study. The researchers also use the internet and

observation to supplement the related review of literature and studies of the

research study, as well as the other information that are given by the researcher

for further understanding.

Data Gathering Procedure


The Primary data method gathering collection method is a survey type to

determine if the following educational resources or services in the school have a

relation in the students learning outcome. The survey based on the research

problem will be conducted in the students who are currently studying in Tandoc

National High School located at Tandoc, San Carlos City , Pangasinan and must

be answered base on their experience and observation about the educational

resources in the whole campus ground to find out if there is an effect in their

learning outcomes. The study will be conducted upon finalizing the questionnaire

and will start on January 17 until the month of March 2018.The researcher will

gather the data needed through face to face interaction to ensure that it is legit

and right results needed in the study will come up.

Statistical Treatment of Data

In order to answer the statement of the problem and research questions

of the study, the data gathered from the selected respondents subjected to

answer the research questionnaire must undergo statistical analysis for data

interpretation and will be synthesize for the conclusion.

For better visualization of the data gathered, the researchers will be

using graphs and figures to show the results of the study.

The researchers will use the Pearson chi-square via SPSS app

(Statistical package for Social Sciences) to test the relationship between facilities

and students learning outcome. SPSS application is a trusted app equipped with

different tool that can be used for the appropriate correlation analysis when the

variables are measured on a scale that is ordinal. SPSS app will help the

researchers to achieve the outcome percentage and frequency of the findings.
